The figure is made of fruit woods and shown here without his shirt. The mechanism is finely made fusee clockwork.

Reminds me of that Asian (forget the origin, Japanese or Chinese) automaton of a lady shooting arrows. Cute small, very delicate, would be nice if the two were in the same room, that'd be a very interesting contrast.

those are japanese automata, they are colled karakuri ningyo (karakuri = mechanism and ningyo = doll)

@@arburo1 OK.I made this very simple automaton to give a more realistic action, (I wasn't concerned about the aesthetics). kzbin.info/www/bejne/i5LNequGmbqNjKc Specifically, the bow arm should stay relatively straight and the string is drawn back by the other arm pulling back. In your automaton, the draw (which is rather short) is achieved by bow hand pushing forward. The action of picking up the arrow is superb.
