It’s a strange feeling, but I feel sorry for her when she has to reveal her inner workings. It feels somewhat… cruel. Don’t know how to put it better.

I need to refurbish my first automaton, which happens to blow kisses, as well! I made her in the mid-80s, for a fundraiser, out of a barbecue rotisserie motor and a ballerina doll, in about 4 days…themusic at the event drowned out the noise!

Some of the smaller simpler automata would make good DIY kits for merch sales. The sand weighted dancing frames, and the simpler dancers and animals, possibly the tortoise and tiger on a ball you've featured on previous videos could be reproduced and adapted for home use. Your sweet little dog's image would make an adorable automata feature.

I don't like music boxes but the one at the very beginning of the video is extremely soothing. Brings me back to four years ago when this was my favorite channel and I used to be obsessed with antiques. The last few months of 2020 were the best months of my life so far. What I wouldn't give to live those days again...

Time to time i dreaming about a witch house. The witch opens the door slightly, peaking out, than clowe it. An owl or flaping and moving its head on a window up high. A cat tries to catch a mouse at the window. An automata house on a small island with willow trees in the middle of a lake

Hello, greetings from Mexico! Thank you for this amazing demonstration! I was wondering if you might have a course or resource where my seven-year-old daughter could learn more about the mechanisms to create her own box. If so, could you please let me know where I can find it?

Why can’t tv programs be like this anymore…. Sigh, the generations today will never feel the nostalgia of something like this. This specifically reminds me of Christmas with HAL5000 twist now that I’m thinking about it, but if HAL was cool on Christmas… loll

I have been waiting for this to turn up again for DECADES. I saw it when it was broadcast and I loved it. I went to a special event in London at a now-lost gallery called KINETIKA where it was shown in about 2005 and asked about obtaining a copy, to be told it is absolutely not available. Been looking on KZbin on and off since 2006 and now... yay! Thank you.

I've been trying to make these for a long time. They look so easy and straightforward. I still can't get mine to work consistently and I don't know why. When they do work, they are great! I even have the wheel and bracket made by 3D printing for precision and lightness. I also understand that the hole needs to be centred to get that chaos movement. I wish I knew why I can't get them all to work all of the time. It's frustrating!

Well I must say after watching this video my automata book collection improved about 400%. Largely due to the purchase of Secrets of Automata. Congratulations guys for puting together a book which will one day be a classic and is already a must have for any automata collection. I suppose one day books will have moving pictures on their pages...but until then this book will be the most informative and engrossing tribute to the magical world of living mechanical creatures. Fantastic...and thank you to you all at the House of Automata. Pity I live directly on the other side of the planet.
