Riding a bicycle is a fun and healthy activity. However, what if getting to your final destination without breaking a sweat and becoming all gross is key? In that case, one of the options that you have is riding a compact and super maneuverable moped scooter. This type of transportation is becoming more and more popular due to the possibility to reach any corner and some models not even requiring a driver’s license.
Since we are fans of electric vehicles on this channel we would like to review the best solely electric models that are not only matching all of the major criteria of a standard scooter, but surpass them in terms of briskly acceleration, zero noise and zero emission, so every last corner of your downtown should be within your reach, even if emission regulations are in place.

!!!UPDATE!!! You must have noticed the wrong acceleration parameter for the first scooter Gogoro in the voice over. It should be 0-30 mph in 4.3 sec. We apologise for the confusion. But nevertheless, would you like your scooter to do 0-60 mph that fast? Let us know in the comments below.

I'm all for city vehicles going electric but for my money I'll stick to a decent folding electric bike. It can stay with me so no fear of theft, I can ride it & get exercise, has a range of 50 miles, is light weight so I can carry it up stairs, put it in the car, has a top speed of 40 kms. no licence, insurance or tax & if I run out of power I can still pedal it home. At a cost of $1500. pretty hard to beat as far as I am concerned.
@automotiveterritory
@automotiveterritory 6 жыл бұрын
Do you mean an electric bicycles with pedal assist? You see that modern electric bicycles are a bit overpowered and many countries have already set legislation limiting the top speed for this type of vehicles. I have already reviewed electric bicycles on this channel too. But I personally like that most of e-scooters have detachable batteries. Haven't seen many e-bicycles with such a feature.
@daytriker
@daytriker 6 жыл бұрын
Most LEGAL Power Assist Bicycles are limited to 25kms/hr in Europe & 32 Kms/hr. in North America. That doesn't mean they can't go faster, that's just when the power is programmed to cut out which is fine with me. The Power Assist is usually needed when muscle power is not sufficient. Europe restricts them to Pedal Assist Only without a licence but North American rules mean you can have both, although not necessary in my opinion. As for battery removal, I don't know about the current batch of manufacturers offerings but all conversion kits allow you to remove the battery for charging or replacement.

All the ranges seem super optimistic, especially with the small size of battery packs. Can only think they did the tests on a level surface at 20mph with no stops and starts which isn't realistic?
@automotiveterritory
@automotiveterritory 6 жыл бұрын
These are the questions that only manufacturers can answer. Of course, some of the ranges sound optimistic, as you mentioned. But there are standards for measuring the range, so they shouldn't be really far off from the real-world range.
@moriwaki80
@moriwaki80 6 жыл бұрын
I tried to find more and it was mentioned the Gogoro range is based on flat ground at a constant 25kph which could explain it. I've built my own electric scooter so pretty familiar with real range, though it's more hilly city driving with average speed of maybe 45kph. With a 3kWh battery expect about 35 mile range. If I drove like a granny on flat ground maybe could make 45 miles?

hey use the motor to turn a generator then add another motor afterwards may require a transformer but it extend the battery when used with a big wheel on the old motor to turn the 30 magnet two rotation generator with a 1\4 inch pin. remember to battery now runs on the tiniest trickle to turn the generator for maximum battery longevity. it will make a best 1500 km out of 15 km good luck. you can also use ebike motor to get best result. stick generator (it looks like a glass bottle laying on its side and it spins as easy a rollerblade.) you may need a transformer to step up amperage for the scooter motor. good luck and may you ride a long time.

hey i am alva like thomas alva edison. the reason they usually don't work is that people use emp devices on them to stop them from working. besides 1500 km is just the absolute max. big oil will break them by the way. if you don't believe try to make one in texas and it will never work. also 1500 km is with an ebike motor running a large wheel at its slowest settings. using the tesla stick generator. also it can be done with a scooter motor at idle running generator with a big wheel to small wheel then using a transformer to control the energy. also you can make 20000 volts using the same system using just a one twenty conveyor motor.

The future is coming, in spite the efforts of Big Oil and its backers (like the Queen of Holland, a principal shareholder of Royal Dutch Shell). E-Bikes have fast acceleration, low noise, no emissions, very low maintenance. Better models have high top speeds. Bike 1, the Gogoro has swappable batteries and charging stations all over Taiwan. The Gogoro therefore, has the same non-stop functionality as a gasoline/petrol scooter.

Automotive Territory: Trending News & Car Reviews Really! Futuristic! Being different doesn't mean being futuristic. Many of those have lean bodies to maintain equilibrium with underpowered motors and batteries. I don't know about your country but in my country an electric scooter which looks more like Vespa or Honda Activa will receive more appreciation than some futuristic yet ugly looking out of some low budget sci fi movie vehicle. And I accept that a few are good if they're called mopeds not scooters. I think design aesthetics change from country to country for Indonesian scooter_moped crossovers didn't get accepted in India except for one model; Philippino trolly vehicles will be target of ROFLing in India just like Indian Autos are laughed upon in Europe and North America. Designs also arise from needs, maybe some country needs such designs, lol.
@automotiveterritory
@automotiveterritory 6 жыл бұрын
Your comment is a classic example of the saying that laughing at something you don't understand is a form of bad tone. You are trying to elevate yourself or your country above the others. But in reality here is how this looks - the companies do their research and look for feedback on their products. There is no 100% guarantee that everyone will like their scooters but at the same time, your point of view is just 1 out of a billion and your message doesn't represent the voice of the majority, so I just wish that manufacturers from India come up with something that suits your taste.
