This is NYC, you betta get used to it. And it’s always these misogynistic men that lowkey hate women being on the road. I be loving it when they be cussing me out. Tried this yesterday and got it right on the first try. Now I just have to work on smoothly changing lanes and staying centered.

Oh my god, I know. I also live in NYC and parking here can be a nightmare in a one way street when you have a whole line of cars behind you waiting for you to move faster and park 😫 I panic big time. Once went to Home Depot and couldn’t park car in parking lot so literally asked a customer to help 🥺

I hate parallel parking, I just find a spot thats easy to deal with and walk a couple minutes to my destination if I have to.
@MostSimple

1. Find a spot that’s 1.5 cars long 2. Signal to the right 3. Line up your rear bumpers with the car to your right 4. Turn your wheel all the way to the right and start backing for about a foot until 5. Hood is pointed to a 10 o clock position and your right window pillar is lined up tho the other cars back light 6. Unwind your wheel all the way to the left and continue backing into the spot 7. Straighten out vehicle and try leave about 3 feet in the front and back for courtesy

The 10 o'clock really helped me master it. Everyone else kept talking about 30 0r 45 degree angles and that always confused me. I also realized I over thought everything and didn't rely on my intuition and how to felt. Viewing it scientifically didn't help me and breaking it down to every last step got me confused. This video was probably the most helpful.

This video was extremely helpful. I recently obtained my Drivers License in NYC at the end of August and passed on my first try! This video helped me a lot with the parallel parking bit, especially the 10 o'clock reference and 1ft of reversing once you're in that 10 o'clock position. I also positioned my right side mirror (I was asked to parallel park on a oneway street but on the right side) to be a little lower than usual so I could see the curb when backing up. If you can no longer see the edge of the curb in your mirror then you've backed up way too far. Side mirrors are our friends and they are highly vital for parallel parking! Thanks Juliana for sharing this with us! :)

I live in a large urban city and parking spaces are usually super tight bc there’s a lot of cars and not enough parking... like an open parking space can fit one car and have buffer of maybe one ft each at the front and back. I usually go around blocks to find “easier” spots even if it risks my safety having to walk a bit home late at night. 😩 Can you give some tips for parallel parking in a tight spot?
@AutomotiveWoman
@AutomotiveWoman 3 жыл бұрын

I used to live in a city with no spots either or they were really tight. My tip, Once you’re kinda in the spot just go back and forth a little at a time, back and forth turning the wheel as necessary and you should be able to get it in.. I’ve parked in some tight spots like that.

Hi: What do you mean by window pillar? Great video. Thanks
@AutomotiveWoman
@AutomotiveWoman Жыл бұрын
Hey! The window pillar is the vertical support between the front and rear windows. Glad you liked the video! For parallel parking, practice makes perfect. Use your side mirrors, take it slow, and keep adjusting till you nail it. Happy parking!

My driver instructor told me to turn the wheel to the right once, obviously he trained us, but we had back up camera's so it was a little easier (he also trained us without the camera) but not as much.

Right window pillar = pillar of right front windshield? Or Right window pillar = pillar between right front & right rear passenger windows? I would love clarification of this so I can try your technique out! Please and thank you! I love your videos!
@AutomotiveWoman

Hi Ms. Shannon! It should be the "c" pillar which is the pillar between the right rear passenger door and the trunk. I hope that makes sense for you. Good luck and thanks for watching. Juliana
