Let's see .. self driving vehicles would obey all traffic laws, including speed limits. They would never be on cell phones and be otherwise distracted. They would never get into ego battles, to get to the front of some other vehicles. They would never have road rage. They would have better reaction times. I would say that the 30+ thousand people slaughtered on the streets and highways each year figure., would drop into the hundreds, if not less. The "only" problem self driving vehicles have is with people driven vehicles.

I was in SF for work and saw a homeless person punch in a waymos window. The tow truck came and a team of people covered up the car. Then it was quietly towed away much later. I think waymo really cares about their image of safety and has a lot of money going into PR

looking at that area where the scooter rider fell over, it doesn't look like a bicycle lane, she probably shouldn't have riding there.

No it’s a bike lane for miles but the pit holes are too big for scooter tires

@@loopholeculture That's a sketch bicycle lane, it's not marked with a bicycle symbol and it must start there because there just isn't enough room for a bike lane near "the venue" , but there are dashed lines across the intersection that merge into the bicycle lane on the other side of the intersection going north, so it probably is. Watch out bicyclists!
