I crossed treaded the bottom right tread tightening the stud in place and it broke the upper oil pan.I should have took it to a shop😖

How bad is it? Was it leaking ? Or wasn’t tightening properly ?

The stud wouldn’t stop turning it snugged up a little, but then got loose again and then a chunk of the upper oil pan where the stud goes dropped to the ground in pieces.

@@merica1st76 normally you would go up 1 size bigger and replace the stud then match it with bigger nut. But it will be tough to find a 1 size bigger stud . If you think there’s still a bit threads left. You can try to install it back gently and use a locktight .make sure it fully dry so you can tighten the nut into that stud

@@autopurlieu thanks for your input,but the whole hole where the bolt goes is gone it broke in 2 pieces.Do you know if I will have to remove the engine to replace the upper oil pan/the no 1 . oil pan?

@@merica1st76 if your replacing just the oil pan. I don’t think you have to drop the whole engine . Dealer or other shop might drop the engine to make it easy for them. Specially if it’s AWD. I have dropped the oil pan from toyota Tacoma when doing the front timing cover gasket replacement (I have a video in my channel) without removing the engine from the car.
