N54 here. Put in a billet PC Valve and oil catch can at 60k miles. At 140k miles my valves still look very good.
@Gripen853 жыл бұрын
For anyone doubting.... When my starter went out on my e61 530i (N52 magnesium) I tackled this job at the same time. My oil consumption went back to absolutely normal and has remained so for 1.5 year so far. The valve was severely clogged up. Hope it will help someone.

@kamata933 жыл бұрын
Sadly if this doesnt work (and sometimes it really doesnt do anything), you have to fix your pistons and whatnot. After that expensive fix, the oil consumption is back to normal. Thats why some people choose the N53 even though it has the famous injector problems and HPFP failures.

@Holdeenio8 ай бұрын
Really appreciated this clear explanation. Do you have a video like this demonstrating the system on the N53? I’m looking to replace basically this whole system on mine, so have ordered a new valve cover (including PCV) and the hose, but want to ensure I’ve ordered all the bits. Also, do you need to remove the intake manifold on the N53?
@cornpopthebaddude39923 жыл бұрын
How did you disconnect and reconnect the lower ccv hose that goes into the oil pan ? Did you need a tool to remove from either side ? Did you have to go under the car to hook back up to the oil pan ?
@awayfromme91984 жыл бұрын
I don't have that in my N52.. But I installed oil catch can... And it's nice

Yes. Oil getting sucked up into the intake and burning with the fuel
@FreakkyJack4 жыл бұрын
Nr1 reason why the n52 is burning oil is a Bad construction on the pistons. Gott mine replaced, 15k kilometers and oil still full! Got the n52b25
@sk1p11123 жыл бұрын
which piston rings did you use to replace??
@FreakkyJack3 жыл бұрын
@@sk1p1112 the Garage bought it directly from BMW, including New pistons. They changed the part numbers, so if you order them there you always get the new/Upgraded ones. Btw the car has noch 220.000 km and is running perfectly! :) Got a 335i GT now, but the NA magic of the n52 never, the Sound, the Feeling, the nice e90 Chassis, just never left me :) Sold the car to a friend and visit it from time to time :D

@@FreakkyJack thanks for the experience sharing mate, it's encouraging ! Got a serious oil consumption problem on my 325i 2006 2.5L too and I was thinking about the pistons too after everything I read on the internet. It only has 150.000km but is consuming around 1L/1000km. Just got the cylinder head cover gasket & screws + oil separator & pipes changed but It did not improve so far, it's maybe even worse since it seems to have consumed 500ML after 100-200km (I don't think the issue comes from the sensor). Was the pistons change very expensive? I was told opening the motor was around 3k EUR. Thanks in advance !
@FreakkyJack3 жыл бұрын
@@xplosif8312 hey, yeah no Problem :) Well yes, around 3k it is. But i got replaced All other parts inside the engine which needed replacement, so it was basically a completely overhault engine :) I got lucky, the dealership paid because the oilconsumption got so bad at 140k after i owned it for a month :D So in germany the dealership paid 2,8k for the complete build. Since then the engine did about 80k with oilchanges every 8 to 10k and oil Was always full, never needed a Single drop of Extra oil. Really incredible :) You can find a Video where i rev it with a 330i esd on my channel xD

@@FreakkyJack Many thanks for your swift reply !! I will really consider this since I plan to keep the car as much as I can (I understand your feeling about it, great car indeed). And yes I saw the video, really cool sound ! Also planned to change the silencer to a custom inox since It seems almost impossible to find a performance exhaust :/ Just sub' to your channel !

HELP! This is a longshot but by BMW e60 is "lagging" when I hit some big bumps/speedbumps and the car acts like a crazed horse for a few seconds, I've changed the VANOS already but the problem is still there. Happens in LOW REVS! And sometimes it can happen while im cruising in 80kmh and I hit a tiny bump, feels like the car taps the breaks almost but we've tested all of the breaks and abs systems etc and it has nothing to do with that.
