I am going to use an oil-slurpur... That uses vacuum/low air pressure to suck the oil out. Copper rod in the engine and a plastic tube to the vacuum bottle. Then change the filter and put new oil in 5W30.

Yes, and the damn dealers tighten the oil plug way too tight so that you'll never get it open on your own.

Excellent. Filling up the new oil filter with oil before installing. That mesh filter seems a good idea especially if it were magnetized. Which I imagine it probably isn't. It seemd to not be dirty at all. Most people don't realize that most of the "metal" bits that occur in an engine are microscopic. Like your guys channel alot, and the work you guys do on BMW's.

I have a Smart Fortwo Passion 451 model year 2008, the mechanic i brought it to put penzoil platinum euro 0w30 synthetic oil in it, would that oil be compatible as well?

My car had smoke coming out, smelled like oil I couldn't remove the bolt since my last mechanic locked it on, and I tried starting it and it sounded like it struggled, so The video helped and my car is just old, appreciated the help though

I took my wife's 2011 Smart to the dealer and to do nothing more than an oil and filter change they quoted me a price of $160! Ouch! I wanted to use OEM oil filter so I bought one on eBay for $20 which included free shipping and no North Carolina State sales tax of 7.5%. The Mobil Synthetic Oil I got from AutoZone for about $30. A lot of money for an oil & filter change BUT more than a $100 cheaper than they wanted to soak me for at the Smart dealer. Smart recommends oil change every 10,000 miles and I think you're safe with that, using synthetic. Thanks for video!

How much did it cost total for a oil change if you did it your self on a 2009 Smart Fortwo ?

I bought the same "European" oil as this guy, and the oil filter was relatively cheap. All together, plus the washer on the oil filter bolt, you are looking at about 40 bucks.

That's the best money can buy and price is fair. It's great for running long drain cycles, just change filter 1/2 way through. Use a fuel system cleaner too every 4th tank

You use a Fram oil filter? All my German cars use Mann/Wix oil filters including my Smart CDI Turbo. Fram is garbage.

Once you're able to break the drain plug loose, this is the easiest oil change on any car I have seen, also the transmission oil change is easy too, since the transmission is technically an automated manual, its basically a trans-axle and takes less than 3 quarts of manual transmission/trans-axle fluid and there is no jack required.

You didn't use a new seal ring (what you call a washer) on the oil drain plug...
@joevarga59826 ай бұрын
You can't get all the oil out like that. You're supposed to use the drain plug or use an oil extractor or electric pump from the top.
@koriyuhboi4364 жыл бұрын
You put that oil filter on way to tight. You are suppose to put the filter on till it contacts the base filter plate and give it a little bit more of a turn. Heat and expansion does the rest.
