I liked Mikami's inclusion because Mikami seems like the type of character that the writers would have made the main protagonist if they wanted Kira to start sympathetic. They however specifically chose Light as Kira due to his lack of tragedy. Everything is perfectly fine in Light's life, Light is popular, smart, healthy and lives in a happy household with good parents. When Light kills, he's not doing so to avenge some deep tragedy (Unlike the terrible Netflix adaption), but instead Light is motivated by curiosity, boredom, ego, and lack of empathy.

Yeah Mikami made the deal with eyes without question so he can bring about justice. Both Mikami and Takada are really intelligent. Takada was a mature women with good thinking and Mikami was so smart with great thinking since he devoted so much in school. Mikami wants to be the hand of Kira and Takada the voice of Kira.

He was thankful that his mom died... wtf 🙃 he made it sound like he loved his mother and that his only gripe with her was her asking him to tone it down a bit so he didn't get himself beat to death, and that one disagreement was enough for him to wish her dead. It’s cause of his obsession with “justice” he built up this entire ideology of “if you do this, then you are bad and evil” and his mother then helped out said people so obviouuusly (sarcasm) his mother is bad then! It really is a form of sociopathy or psychopathy

Nah. Mikami as a kid was heartbroken over her death. He morphed his messed up sense of justice based on that tragic event. She didn't agree with his sense of justice, so therefore she was *fated* to die in his eyes. He coped with it by justifying those events. Mikami had the idea that everything in his life was fated when in reality, it wasn't. That's why the name of his backstory chapter in the manga is "coincidence".

As an overly sensitive person with heightened sense of justice, the problem with us is that we usually fail to see when we go from good people to bullies. At some point I had to realize that I'm not trying to help people anymore but I'm chasing illusions of justice instead. Many people do that and it rarely brings anything good to this world. Every single good person I know has done something unethical for wide variety of reasons. Sometimes people are black and white but in most cases they aren't.
