Every single time I would go to a LR dealership for a minuscule issues, i would end up with several other small issues right out of the service bay. As a former dealership mechanic, some batteries can be a complete B-word to do. Knowing how “shop talk” can be, how I interpret what he said was, the car was already there a lot of stuff, much longer than the initial oil change, and adding a battery would add a decent amount of time to the job, he did mark it off on the sheet, I would actually fault the service advisor for not rescheduling you to get in for that. The mechanic didn’t make a big fuss of it because it’s not a big deal as the car starts with no problems. But yeah service advisor should’ve booked you in for a battery replacement on another day. Anyone calling for that mechanic to be fired, I mean, that’s literally how most talk. Mechanics talk like that with each other, they wouldn’t to the customer, he didn’t know he was being filmed. Also most dealerships you’re not allowed to film in, so I’m not sure I would’ve posted this video.

Audi Care Mike...is about $899-1099 roughly depending on the model of the car and can be purchased w/delivery. Covers all major services required by Audi up to I believe 40k or 4yr mark on the car and goes with it to new owner/transferable. So Audi will do initial service, 10k, 20k, 30k and 40k normally under Audi Care given its normal intervals are annually or 10k. Enjoy!

I went to that same dealership in my SQ5, I had bought it with 48.5k miles and the warranty was good until 50k. I had an oil leak that ended up being my oil pan which the service writer actually hooked me up and got it changed and a new oil change. I’m surprised to see that there as I left there with great respect for the place. It’s nice to have some light shed on it though!

What I don’t understand is why is he laughing like you’re just doing work. checking a bad battery makes you laugh that much that just sounds evil honestly lol
@tboneforreal3 жыл бұрын
He's laughing because the diagnostics say the battery is bad and he must know it's not easy to replace. I watched a couple of videos and you have to remove the wipers and the whole frunk to get to the battery, so his laugh is like, "I've spent 4 hours working on this car, no way am I doing that today."
@mikesterlb3 жыл бұрын
@@tboneforreal you knew all that from a laugh. Or is that you? Lol
@tboneforreal3 жыл бұрын
@@mikesterlb Lol, I'm just connecting dots. I'm not a mechanic, but I do understand a little about how warranty repairs work. I was curious why he wouldn't want to replace a battery, which normally isn't a big deal, and I found a couple videos. You got to take the whole freaking frunk out to replace the battery and one of the guys in the video said the estimate was given was for about an hour of labor. I'm just guessing after he was already spending 4 hours doing service on the car, he didn't want to spend another hour tearing apart and reassembling the front of the car just to replace the battery.

Be a real boss and go back there grab the technicians themselves and show them that. Then proceed to show them your KZbin channel.... yeah you shame them. Tbh it’s a fkn super car and they should be treating that shit like god. I would never take my super car to a dealership that would act like that. No profession or love for cars
@goonable23 жыл бұрын
I believe the battery change out in an R8 takes about 45 mins to an hour. Although you can see the top of the battery from inside the front trunk, after removing an access panel, removing it completely requires removal of the front trunk liner and all the trim pieces surrounding it. The tech probably didn't want to do it because he knew it was a bit more time consuming than just swapping out a battery on most cars (10 mins). And I'm sure he's been told by the service manager to try and avoid such service work on cars still under the Audi "Care" warranty so he can focus his time on more profitable & billable hours for the dealership.

You should ensure the general manager of this Audi dealership sees the full camera video of your service experience. For the extremely high prices they charge for Audi service they should treat all their customers with respect and provide exemplary service. I suspect dealership management is unaware this sort of behavior is going on. It will cost them customers in the end, and may result in customers’ cars not receiving proper care and experiencing greater potential damage in the future from neglected repairs.

When you buy an Audi you can pay upfront for all the services. It’s attached to the cars serial number. So you can take it to any Audi dealer and they will service the car because it is prepaid.

Mike, the Audi dealership in the Strip and the Audi Dealer in Washington PA are both owned by Cochran. Their service department is trash at both and I've had bad experiences at both. Your only option left is Sewickley.
@OliverBund3 жыл бұрын
Cochran purched South Hills Audi from I think it was A&W or P&W maybe back around 2016. Before that South Hills Audi was an amazing place to get service. I no longer own an Audi, simply because there's no longer a trusted place for me to get it serviced. I had an experience at Sewickley Audi about 12 years ago where they damaged my car and refused to admit it - granted that was a very long time ago, but I never went back there again after that.

The condition of the service area is pretty appalling for a high end car dealership. It looks like a low class backyard shop. You can tell the owners take no pride in their service area. Speaks volumes about how professional they are.

I've been a tech at Audi for 4 years. When you replace the battery you have to calibrate some sensors, its not that much of a job if you've done it more than once. But it does take a hour or so with the calibration. If I was the head of the dealership, I would've given you a free battery and an excuses. ( Battery is located in the front, between the wheels, you have to take out the whole front boot thing )

I have worked before in one and I do take my car in to dealership due to warranty but it’s rarely a good experience. People nowadays, not that I am much older, seem to not care as much or hold much of pride in what they do and what puts food on their table too. Very sad, when I work and do work for someone, I make sure to the extra mile to ensure all is taken care of and the customer will come back. Sorry you had to go through such a weird experience!
