Just bought a 2017 Ford Escape Titanium. Black on black. It’s so smooth and has a good amount of power for not being a V6 because of the EcoBoost. I’m in love with it!

I just bought a 2017 Ford Escape Tianium with the 301A package and a 1.5 eco boost engine on May 28, 2016 and I'm loving the vehicle. This was my first time purchasing a brand new vehicle on my own and I'm glad I listened with my heart and I went with this vehicle. Great video and very informative. Keep up the great work.

1 Drummer! Just bought a Titanium Escape 2017 2.0 Awd. Drove it with 87 octane. It ran really good. But put 93 octane on the fill up. This SUV is a Baby Rocket. Wolf in sheep's clothing! Not to many drivers can take me off the line. Saw a Edge ST today. Wow, What a SUV! On Steroids! Bit the Titanium Escape Awd and the turbocharged 2.0. 245 hp and 275 torque. My 2004 Concorde LXI Limited had a 250 hp and 250 torque 24 VALVE engine. Was a Rocket for a land yacht. But this Crossover. Is Fast! Shawn.

Thank goodness Ford has stuck with their 6-speed and not gone with a CVT.
@bvedant

Consequently, MPG figures are below average compared to competitors using CVT and a small turbo-four engine. Which will be a dealbreaker to many since most who buy these are looking for fuel efficiency, otherwise they'd be buying bigger vehicles.

I have a 2014 Escape Titanium. Just feel the older 2013-2016 design looked better. I may be in the minority, but I feel the 2013-2015 Escape Titaniums had better features. For example, the passenger could open the center located power liftgate - not any longer for the 2016's and beyond. Heated heats had 5 positions, now only three. I still like the black screen of the older Ford Sync (especially at night) and found it quite functional - and I could work it wearing gloves - not now. It does not make sense when you are driving to have to slide/wipe the screen to get to functions - too distracting, as well as pinch and zoom...really??? Can anyone say distracted driving? I will have to say heating controls look better, though. Finally, I may be old fashioned, but having a variable control manual parking brake could be a life saver in certain circumstances instead of an on-off mechanism - something else to break. Overall love the titanium Escape - and put premium in it to see what an amazing difference it makes - so much stronger pull with little turbo windup or spindown!

Very good review, showed me a lot of information and visuals. I'm a Toyota guy and I'm looking for a SUV and a Ford for the first time, ever. The Escape is in my SUV research along with the Totota Rav4 and Hyundai Tucson. I'm looking for a small, inexpensive, attractive, good on gas SUV with enough room in the back to hold 2 german shephard dogs. The look of the '17 Escape looks awesome all around, I really like the new headlights and tail-lights. Does it come with TMS and OLM? Thanks again!

I have the se with leather (which I really did not care about). There is a device that you can get to plug in the obd port that can turn off auto/start/stop for about 100$ worth it imo

In the process of deciding what features I need BUT how does the 4 wheel drive work and how to activate it? Please clarify, does the 2.0 engine require premium unleaded? I just got one of these on Sunday. I traded in a Dodge Durango Citiadel . I like it so far I only have one problem .The gas pedal is not good. It is really tiny and I cant reach it and I am 5'2 I scoot the seat all the way up as much as I can but if i go any further up I might be putting myself in danger if the air bag if i were to have a wreck. Other then that I like it so far. Mine is the titanium but its not got all the bells and whistles you guys talk about on these videos..No sun roof nor that cruise control where you can distance yourself from other cars. I am ok with no sun roof but man do i miss that fancy cruise control lol..

Possibly a silly question, but the Kuga has drop down headrests in the back versus the US versions flip forward. Does anyone know the reason? I rarely have backseat passengers and would prefer them to drop down out of the way for visibility (flipped forward just looks weird).

The 2013 to 16s were garbage. My aunt had a 13 almost blew up. Had the 1.6 ecoboost with a 6F35 transmission which was terrible! there was a reason ford got rid of that engine and transmission and replaced it with the 1.5 ecoboost economist and a entire new transmission, better displacement and less potential for overheating in the new 17 and up Fusions and Escapes. My Mom, Brother and Uncle all have the current 2018 models and they are WAY improved, looks and interior wise. Also not to mention built back in the USA not Mexico.

Bryan McHugh. I also have the same concerns you do. I like the Escape but I don't care for that auto start-stop function . I think that should be an option , not standard equipment I know you can turn it off but every time you restart the car you would have to turn it off again.
@bryanmchugh1307

Done a lot of research on the Escape and have crossed it off my list. Apparently the Eco Boost engine design has no catch can for acids, debris etc that gets recycled through the PCV system back into the engine resulting in oil and carbon build up on the back side of the intake valves causing bad gas mileage, loss of power, failure to start and more. Only way to prevent it is to have a catch can custom installed or to change the cylinder head every 20,000 miles. Start/Stop engines work fine in a hybrid set up like the Prius/Honda Civic hybrid designs but after discovering the carbon build up issue on the Eco Boost engines I think that the stop/start feature would just murder the engine once carbon build up on the back side of the intake valves begins...

Bryan McHugh. thanks for that info. you might consider the Subaru Forester. I know Consumer Reports rates it very high. I also think the Nissan Rogue and the one Mazda makes look nice. I've also heard good things about the Kia Sportage. I don't think any of those are going to have very powerful engines. but I guess you don't expect that on these vehicles.

Thanks for the video. Myself, I'd be more interested in a mildly optioned SE review if you get a chance at that. Also, if you have any input to Ford since they're not very good at polling existing Ford owners, recommend getting rid of the base engine, and more importantly, get a Gentex rearview mirror with the garage door/gate openers like everyone else. I don't want to purchase a sunroof to get my garage/gate opened. Last but not least, my wish list wants Ford to put an optional dash cam on their vehicles. I believe many would love to have that option.

Great review!! I looked at a new '17 titanium at the dealer near here the other day. We have a '16 Titanium and I do like the new layout of the center stack and the lack of shiny black plastic on the console area on the new one. The added room is nice for my legs. Ours is my wifes primary daily driver and she's short so as you mentioned it is easy to find a comfortable spot for both of us and I love the memory seat function for when I drive. I do like the overall design changes on the '17 but the '16 is still good looking. I notice they got rid of the climate controls on the sync 3 screen itself....I don't think we've ever actually used that on our '16 so that frees up some clutter on the screen. I mentioned before my dad bought a new F150 with the 2.7 and auto start stop. Its very bizarre at the stoplights the first few times you drive it but he said he is used to it after a few weeks. Probably makes more of a difference on a big truck as opposed to a regular little 4 cylinder for MPGs. Seems like in tow/haul mode or when theres a large demand on the A/C or heat it kinda turns the function off itself until theres more ideal conditions. It doesn't happen every time at a stoplight depending on conditions. One tiny detail that bugs me on our escape and this new one as well is the touch pads on the front door handles to lock the doors.....I wish they would color match those instead of the black plastic square....yea, I'm picky I guess...lol.

+klc317 I agree about the touch pad button on the door handles, they should definitely be color matched! I don't really know yet what my opinion is of the auto start/stop technology is.. I don't drive one on the regular to really form a opinion.

I had 2015 Escape SE to now a 2017 Escape Ecoboots SE. I like the extra space in the center but I never understood why people said the gear stick was in the way, I never felt like it was. I would of liked to see a light around the car charger port just like they did for the USB. Am not a fan of the new climate knobs. I feel like its not accurate. Am also not a fan of the new change of the driver screen it turn off if you turn off your car. If you want to play with the setting you will have to turn your car on in order for it too work. The dashboard light run the same at night and daytime, I loved it how it was before, at night it turned blue.(got pulled over by the cops first time due to this :/ first time driving in the dark. I keep mine in automatics and though I was still in my 2015 ) The power in the 2017 is better, gas mileages seems to be better. The auto start system you dont feel it, unless your paying attention, I like it. I like the look of it, I know the car has the same dimensions but I swear it higher, I love it. The steering wheel is smaller but its much more smoother and easier to make turns. Overall I love the car, just wished they didn't mess with certain things that didn't need to be changed.

Mike, I currently have a 2014 Escape Titanium and really do like it. I am thinking about getting the 2017 model Titanium. I notice that the blind spot indicators that light up when a vehicle approaches or is in your blind spot. Is there also an audio warning or just the light indicators? When driving during the day, are those blind spot indicator lights bright enough to be clearly visible to the driver? Also, my Escape did not come with a sun shade for the cargo area and I see that one is included on this model. Is that included in the Titanium model? I also read that there is a $75 option for all weather floor mats. Are those made of rubber or is it a cloth type material. The color of my Escape is the white platinum tri-coat which was and I believe still is like a $600-$700 option. I like it but wonder if it is really worth the price. Look forward to your reply......Thanks. Great review of the 2017 Escape Titanium model, the best and most complete on KZbin by far. I may even buy the car from you since you are in Coraopolis, PA and I live near Youngstown, OH.

The "BLIS" system does not make a noice it's just a light. Yes, the light is bright enough to see during day time. The cargo area shade is available for an SE as well, not just the Titanium. The mats are rubber. I would say that the Platinum white is definitely worth the money as it is a beautiful tri cote metallic white over just the plain "refrigerator white" called "Oxford white" Thank you for the kind words, glad I could help :)

+AutoVlog Thanks for the response. Yeah I like the Edge.. but really like the Start/stop tech and the ability to use Apple Carplay with the 2017 Escape which the 2016 Edge doesnt have yet.. So either I wait for 2017 Ford Edge Sport (which I agree is the only way to go) or 2017 Escape which is now out. Once again Thanks for your feedback.

Yes they desperately need to get rid of those cheap chrome exhaust tips and put on something more healthy looking. I love the way the interior console was redone. I have a 2015 Ford Escape and didn't think they could improve it but they have done a nice job but I still love my White Platinum Metallic Tri-Coat paint. Nice job Ford.

I have to give some props to Ford for not ELIMINATING the CD Players in their cars... *Cough* General Motors *Cough*... nothing pisses me off more than being FORCED into loading disc after disc onto my computer (roughly 12 hours of ripping), then loading all of that onto my Iphone. Besides, sound quality on CDs is still some of the best there is. I consistently REFUSE Escapes as rentals when my Fusion is in the shop, due to body roll, and an unfortunately overly cheap plastic feel. At least enterprise has learned not to put me in Fiesta, Focus, Transit (Minus being top heavy... I liked this more than Escape and Focus... but man are they ugly!), and hopefully they'll learn not to offer Escape... Currently in a 15 Expedition with the Ecoboost V6, and love it! I have effectively driven the entire Ford line-up at this point minus Fiesta... Little over a week until arbitration on my Fusion.. I wonder if Ford would agree to shipping a Fusion Sport before release to make someone happy HAHA!

I was considering the Escape. I even made a spec sheet, with AWD, 2.0 ecoboost and that cool black package, but when i went to the dealer and sat in one, i was really disappointed by the limited leg/knee room. I'm not even that tall, 6.0, but to me, it felt so bad in that department, that i didn't even test drive it.:( Just walked away.

Same issue for me! I bought a Titanium model (FWD) and unfortunately, I didn't pick up on this upon my initial testing. After owning the car for a few days, my wife and I found the leg room and back seat space was just not enough for my being 6'3 and not good for a baby seat in the back either. Also as another comment pointed out, the gas pedal placement is horrible and very uncomfortable for long drives. Traded this car in for a 2017 focus.

I do not like that the engine shuts off when you stop at a light, or anywhere. In about 4or5 years I think this will be something else to go wrong,if the engine does not start instantly.

It has a heavy duty battery and starter motor to accommodate that and you can just push a button to turn it off as soon as you start the car and then you don’t have to deal with that.

I had an opportunity to sit in one of these new Escapes at an auto show in my area and walked away unimpressed. Although this new model is definitely an improvement over the last, it's still not good enough, in my opinion. For starters, I literally tower over the front of this vehicle (the older models were taller)....the design also screams "mommy wagon." The interior also seems cramped, too. For that reasons, I will be avoiding this version of the Escape, as it is also too small for my taste. Moreover, it also lacks a six cylinder engine, which is something that I love in my 2007 year model. I also love the expansive headroom and huge windshield in my vehicle as well. With that being said, all of these amenities seem to be pretty much non-existent in this version. For the next model, Ford should bring back the V6 engine (with Ecoboost as an option), resurrect the XLT trim (labeling it as S, SE, and SEL was a stupid idea, as it makes the Escape seem too much like a car), come up with a better interior design, complete with an expansive windshield, and finishing it off with a more rugged SUV look. If they are able to do all of this with the next model, then they might just have me sold!
