Hi Andrew, I just thought, maybe the volunteer firebrigades of Germany might be an interesting topic for your english and american viewers? After all they not only serve a very important role in public protection expecially in the rural areas, but often enough they are a key element of social live in small townships and villages. Between all the other german "Vereinsleben" i.m.h.o they are outstanding. I must admit, though, I am lazy and didn't look up if you had this topic covered already. Keep on the good work, I love to see my home country from the very special perspective you provide -the fresh, wide open eyes of a foreigner by birth that immersed himself so deeply into his new homeland that he knows his new community sometimes better than us indigenous ones... Thank you so much, Andrew!

"Generally cold and wet and miserable", yes, for most of the Year it was wet and miserable. And that wetness felt cold, because rain feels colder than sunshine. But actually, if we look at the Data, it wasn´t cold. All Months had a positive Anomaly. June had the lowest though with only +0.41K (we may call it "normal" when compared to the 1991-2020 Average). The Highest Anomalies have been found in August (+1.9K), May (+1.93K), March (2.88K) and February (+5.08K). Compared to very recent Years, Summer may have felt cold, since it was lacking intense Heatwaves and very recent Summers had been extraordinarily warm, this Summer was only ordinarily warm. With 18.48°C it was the 7th warmest since 1761, but the 3rd coldest of the last 7 Years. Precipitationwise we are currently slightly behind the record year 2002. An above average year is inevitable. Or in Short: It felt cold, but it wasn´t. Btw October is currently projected to end up ca. 1.7K above 1991-2020. With that, there is a very high chance that 2024 becomes the warmest year since we record weather in Germany, a record broken for the 3rd time in a row.

Maybe this is a stupid suggestion of something you already thought of, couldn’t you just get the b roll on shutterstock or similar platforms for your video about different types of road? It might be time consuming to find the right footage and editing things from different regions years and seasons of the yeart together. But It might work, I was a video editor when I was younger for a TV show, and we had to do that all the time Cheers, love your content for how authentic and well thought out it is!

This sounds a lot like the kind of stuff that we get in the U.K. with overrunning public works and strikes. It’s usually train strikes. My local bus operator has been cancelling services for ages due to a “driver shortage”.

Public transport isn't nearly as bad in Germany as it is in the UK, though. It's really impressive that you can get a bus to even the tiniest blackwater.

Speaking of infrastructure projects with delays, will you be doing a video on the Fehmarn connection and the delay they say is definitely most certainly not coming, and that the current schedule that hinges on absolutely noone having any issue with the new connection on the new crossing over he sound, and nothing at all going wrong during construction, like not even a few days of bad weather. Seems very unrealistic to me, and Danish and Swedish authorities are both very concerned that German authorities have laid out this timetable.

Yes, if you live in the countryside in Germany you almost get the full American experience of a car based culture. That is a great tip to all homesick Americans who loathe the benefit of good infrastructure in walking distance. 😘😐 I love the Ruhrgebiet because I am not particularly fond of the American experience. ☺
