We would all be very luck to have friends like Felix! I have a terrible time with cleaning up after/during projects. For me, anyway, it's just such a different -- and unpleasant -- task when compared to whatever it is I'm trying to accomplish. Having a friend share in the task makes it much easier for me to get motivated. So it made me happy for you to see Felix helping with such fun jobs: fixing a toilet, cleaning up the huge but understandable mess, and cutting fallen trees in the rain. What a guy!

You are an inspiration to me and at 70 years old your videos have helped me to continue working on my house. Your steady work and determination have taken you far. My home is a super insulated home close to a passive design. Working on getting a garden for next year and storage shed to store all the materials and things I needed to build my house. All the best

The corkscrew is used to leash a dog in the garden. It screws in the ground and then you attach a long leash to it. I guess it could also be used for other animals.

Absolutely no judgement regarding those 2 rooms given your explanation Maya … perfect timing for Felix to be visiting … such a great help with all that needed to be done … thanks Felix! Good timing as well in harvesting before the heavy rain … Thank you so much Maya for making the time to edit your videos even when you are utterly exhausted … your commitment to sharing everything about your journey is inspiring ! Hi Maya, You have so many "half" pieces of wood you can probably make several sets of shelves to help you with storage. Also, storing things upright, leaning against a wall, takes up more space than storing them flat on a shelf.

It really doesn't matter which unused stuff you put in the far back when putting things away. The very first thing you need after finishing will be in the far back. And Murphy was an optimist.

Hi, get some tool holders for the walls and get all your precious tool up off the floor. Wire racking shelves are also a godsend to organise all your stuff. Is the stream part of your property? Are you able to put a micro hydro system in it? It would be nice to have an alternative energy source for when your solar starts diminishing during autumn and winter.

You may have to re coat your water tank with some water sealer. If there are micro cracks in the cement and it is draining through, it may be causing damage to your foundation as well. I would drain it completely seal it and check the drain inlet and outlet for damage. Also you may want to check into some hydro-electic ideas for your creek and water tank as well. On rainy days when you aren't getting solar charge it can keep an off grid power bank full and serviceable.

with the toilet put the fiittings on the pan first and then lower the whole thing straight onto the drain, when you do it the other way and you try to push the pan back it moves the other fittings causing a leak,, good luck

It must be nice to have a bit of a break from the challenging work for a bit. Even time to tidy up! I think most of us have a room or area that is hidden from others. Your squash harvest was funny. Glad your toilet was relatively easy to fix. It's scary when you have a leak! It must be good to have company, especially since you can relax a bit. I hope you have an enjoyable week.

If you can get some pallets & you already have lots of rock walls so build yourself some standing gardens with the rockwall at the back & pallets at the front leaving a gap in between then fill with twigs cardboard & lots of mulch you will find gardening so much easier & gentler on your back

It looked like the fittings between the WC & floor were the type designed to fit to the porcelain of the pan rather than each other. Your approach with the flexible is most likely the best long-term solution. They are produced in many lengths. So maybe a shorter version would fit.😊

Hi Maya! I asked my AI friend about your snails and slugs problem you’ve had and these are possible solutions: Physical Barriers Copper Tape: Place copper tape around pots or garden beds. The copper creates a mild electric shock when the snail or slug comes into contact with it, deterring them. Eggshells or Diatomaceous Earth: Scatter crushed eggshells or diatomaceous earth around plants. The sharp edges can deter slugs and snails from crossing over. Beer Traps: Bury shallow containers (such as pie tins) at ground level and fill them with beer. Snails and slugs are attracted to the beer, fall in, and drown. Salt Traps: Place a small amount of salt in a container (be cautious, as this can also harm plants). Snails and slugs will crawl in and be deterred by the salt. Natural Deterrents Coffee Grounds: Sprinkle used coffee grounds around plants. The caffeine can deter slugs and snails. Garlic Spray: Create a garlic spray by steeping crushed garlic in water, straining, and spraying it on plants. The strong scent can repel slugs and snails. Encouraging Predators Attracting Beneficial Wildlife: Encourage natural predators of slugs and snails, such as birds, frogs, and toads, by providing habitats (like birdhouses or ponds) and food sources (nectar plants). Regular Maintenance Clean Up Debris: Remove fallen leaves, plant debris, and other hiding spots where slugs and snails can thrive. Handpicking: Regularly check your plants and handpick any visible snails and slugs. Dispose of them far from your garden.

An observation. A chainsaw should be operated between shoulder and knee height. I would respectfully suggest that you never cut towards your legs as chainsaws rip, not cut and flesh wounds are really messy.
@johnbanks8065Сағат бұрын
I'm not sure using silicone on the toilet fittings (in the UK we call them pan connectors) is a good idea; they come complete with rubber seals and that's how they are supposed to work (although, in fairness, it looks as though you've combined more than one pan connector together which is not how they're designed to work which is probably why they were leaking). I wouldn't consider what you've done to be a long term solution, although what the answer is I can't say for sure, apart from continuing to search for a single pan connector that fits. Failing that, I think I'd try using a sleeve of soil pipe (just a very short section so it doesn't alter the length of the combined piece) between the separate pan connectors, so that they each seal against the solid pipe rather than the soft seal of the other pan connector; I think that's much more likely to provide a long term seal than using silicone. I'm loving your content though, and I'm really enjoying following your adventure.
