I've only completed 3 of my required 8 reads so far, BUT I'm 50 pages away from finishing my current book and I also have a graphic novel I need to read. I could be doing a lot worse! Also I love the Demonology ASMR Room, it helped me get through a horror book I wasn't enjoying.

@@BookRoastooh yay, it was called Five Tuesdays in Winter and they were all kind of about love but coming at it from different angles...some relationships (good and bad), some mother-daughter, some coming of age idolisation, some betrayal etc. The title story was adorable ❤

I'm currently 6/8 books done (6/11 counting the Impling challenge and the extra qualification I'm going for), including a genuine DNF (thank you guild ranking, I did not know how I was going to replace that otherwise). Feeling pretty good but also I average 8 books a month so 11 is... ambitious. 👀 Peaches is hilarious, the little frog butt!

yeah the readathon isn't going the way I want to either, I am just kinda in a reading slump... ok not really but I tent to always read fanfics instead of my tbr x.x I did finish 3 Books and a Graphic Novel however, so its not going terribly... I have started Harrow the Ninth, but I am just a chapter in so far I actually wanted to finish the mandatory tbr soon so I can read He wo drowned the world as soon as it comes out because that is the impling summoning book for me xD

ohh, i admire your crocheting so much! and i am surprised how well i´m getting on with the readathon even though august is a vacation/work filled month for me, so i haven´t been able to join any live chats. also i LOVED Yellowface. yes, the American perspective is definitely visible there, but Kuang, probably thanks to her Chinese background doesn´t have that basically communist life-view, which is common with leftist, liberal younger generation Americans who mean well and I get it, but as someone from an ex-eastern block country (Czechia)... i don´t always agree with them, even though that´s my age group and political leaning (liberal, not communist). i see what you mean with the critiscism, but it was still a 5* read for me. and the trip shots are AMAZING. i am adding that to my UK trip bucket list.

I rated "Yellowface" 2 stars: I feel like the characters were too "2D" to make it a good nuanced commentary. She make the main character so unlikable that it closes the discussion, because it make you feel like a bad person to agree with her, like on the class point you mentioned.
