I was "forced" to rest after cataract surgery this fall, and I so associated with your comments on being in the moment and enjoying the garden as it is since I can't clean it up quite yet. I, too, have gone through my pictures and feel sad that I didn't really "see" my gardens as I should have. That is now my mission, to be in the moment and really see what's in front of me. Thanks for the reminder!!

Thank you for the beautiful tour. Autumn is a bittersweet time of year. The colors are as glorious as summer to me.. Even as an avid gardener, fall time is my favorite time of year. I saw a quote from an unknown author that said, "Autumn shows us how beautiful it is to let things go"!

Your gardens are my favorite, every changing season & they are still beautiful. I have slowly got all my gardens cleaned out & cut back as much as I’m going to this year .. this year I just wanted to relax & watch it all unfold & see how it does .. everything looks so different, even the lighting from the sun in the fall is different & how it makes the fall leaves just pop . I’m not looking forward to winter , but I’m glad the planting season is over for this year , ( flowers & veggies ) , I’m just tired. … lol So it’s time to slow down now & relax , and wait on spring 💗
@GardenMoxie11 ай бұрын
Thank you. You are right about it being time to rest. That is the great thing about winter coming in a colder climate. It is a good reminder. I sounds like you go everything set so you can just enjoy your garden as things wind down. That's excellent.

A beautiful video with gorgeous autumn colours but why I like this particular video so much is the wildlife additions, I’ve never seen a pray mantis before. How it manages to camouflage itself is incredible and I love its adopted name. The Japanese forest grass you’ve planted in large drifts certainly provides the wow factor for me, I’m going to have to copy that idea in my garden.

What a beautiful video of your garden. I love it. We too, have a dozen Japanese maples, some that self seeded a decade ago, and they have been given pride of place. I didn't know a thing about gardening back then, but at least I did something right!. I don't grow a lot of seeds, but your method suits me down to the ground. I have terracotta saucers, potting soil and I'll get some zip loc bags. I guess you spray them to get them well dampened? Where do you keep them afterwards - unheated shed (above freezing)? Thank you for sharing your experience in your garden. I share that feeling. Our rain is coming, but the Fall sun has been heaven. There will be sunny days in the future though. Hope for peace.

Stunning! Can I ask how big your yard is? It looks to be aprox half acre or better. Also, what are those big (8ft+) teardrop shaped shrubs in the back? And are they evergreen?
@GardenMoxie11 ай бұрын
Hello. I live on about 1/3 of an acre. The backyard is roughly 150 ft wide from what I remember...ha ha. Lots of space for a garden. The teardrop shaped trees are Hornbeam. The variety is Frans Fountaine. The are not evergreen, but they tend to hold onto the brown leaves right up until Spring when the leaves all fall as soon as the new leaves start growing. They are beautiful trees.

Right now my Autumn dreams are on hold because we had heavy rain which has quite literally been washing the leaves off my trees. Tonight will be our first killing frost. Will the fallen leaves dry out or will they freeze to the ground? Gardens and nature are always throwing out new challenges for the gardener.
