An interesting fact about the Rothschild family:
The Rothschild family is a long-established Jewish family from Frankfurt. The dynasty was founded by Mayer Amschel Rothschild (1744-1812), who became known primarily as bankers, and in the 19th century had the largest banking network in Europe, and was once the richest and most influential family in the world, with a great influence on European domestic politics. Several branches of the family existed and existed, including in the UK, France, Austria, Italy and many were based in the US. During the Second World War, they lost most of their wealth, and with it their great political influence. Although their wealth and power are not what they used to be, they are still wealthy, managing two private banks: Rothschild & Co, and Edmond de Rothschild Holding S.A. Rothschild is no longer one of the world's 1,000 richest people.
The Rothschilds are named after the red shield that adorns their house in Frankfurt. On 23 February 1744, Mayer Amschel Rothschild, the founder of the family, was born in the Jewish ghetto of Frankfurt. The family had been trading mainly in clothes, but also in money exchange. His father intended him to become a rabbi and enrolled him in the right school, but after his father's death shortly afterwards (1755), the young boy studied in Hanover. In 1764, he returned to his native town with considerable financial capital and began trading in rare coins, medals and antiques. During this time he made many valuable contacts. On one occasion, even Prince Frederick II of Hanau bought from him. In the 1790s he founded a bank and soon became the wealthiest Jew in Frankfurt. His income of 4,000 guilders in 1795 rose to 60,000 guilders a year later.

Queen Victoria of England and Prince Albert also used Rothschild couriers to communicate with the continent.
Since the 1850s, the family has been involved in wine and champagne production, as well as art collecting and horse racing.
In the 1880s, the British state bought the Suez Canal with a loan from them, and they were instrumental in Brazil's independence.
