What a world we live in, that I can turn my set on and watch these fellas play. So magnificent and so accessible. We are so lucky. How I wish I could see them live...that's a bucket list for sure.

agreed.. incredible to see humans painting the world with the colors and medium of their choosing through their instrument, i only wish sometimes i could see how vivid or dull their palettes appear on the painting they all create with each other collectively in that moment of locking in with each other ! what a beautiful thing, music.... superb

that was one of the greatest intro's to autumn leaves i've ever heard. Just so much embouchure control and attention to dynamics. also Emmet, I love how your comping is so dynamic and reactive to the soloist! That's something I'm still trying to learn how to do myself lol Phil and Joe are locked in too! My wish is to play with you cats one day! Can't wait to see you in NY in october man!

Loving good trombone playing. It’s more rare than good trumpet. It’s a lovely sound when done right. More oblique and burnished than trumpet. More late night.

Back in 1988, my wife and I were at the Montreux Jazz Festival...an opening act, a guy comes out, playing trumpet. Fantastic chops. The next tune, he plays trombone. Hmm, that's interesting...there's not that many that double on trumpet and trombone. Then he plays a flugelhorn -- wow, incredible. Then after that, he played a baritone horn. This was my first introduction to a guy that I'd never heard of -- the one and only, James Morrison! Immortalized on the album Swiss Encounter! I think it was the same night (we were only there two nights) -- George Benson is on stage, and he starts playing "Moody's Mood" -- when it comes to a solo section, James Moody walks in from behind the stage, soloing! Such a "wow" experience.

Brilliant, vibrant, exciting, masterful. Great interplay and group communication. Stangely, a bit less at some moments would have even meant more, like in many of the events shown here. But of course rhe temptation to show off is understandable and produces some outstanding results. If this were a live recording situation however some restraint may create an even more rewarding and deeper listening experience.
