I've been growing Hoyas for nearly 20 years and water propagation is still my favorite. Absolutely loved seeing the family going for a walk (and a good run) in this beautiful weather. Also, enjoyed the plant chores, but, why are your plant chores so much more relaxing than mine? (Lol.)

So glad to hear that with your 20 years of experience you still enjoy using water the most! Plant chores has become more relaxing because I can escape outside to the greenhouse 😆.

Really enjoyed this video as I now have some Hoyas so it was very helpful for when I try to propagate. Love your cool selection of pots and yes, the head planter looks really cool with the long piece left on. Top dressing sets them of great but does it make it more difficult to tell when they need watering as you can’t see or feel the soil? Thanks for sharing another calming plant chore session.
@mypetitegarden2 жыл бұрын
I'm so used to knowing when my plants need to be watered that I can tell by lifting the pot usually but if its difficult for you when it comes time to water, I would suggest to skip the top dressing. Also I use terracotta so I don't worry about overwatering as much.
@reedebrown60062 жыл бұрын
Thanks. Am slowly repotting my plants from nursery pots to terracotta. Once I get used to judging the weight I think I will top dress as it really finishes off the plant. Still new to all this so it may take a while.😊

I’m trying to understand your decisions on what goes into stratum. Wet sticks, I get. Stems to short for water or too heavy. Am I on the right track? I just ordered stratum. Not new to plants but new to Hoya. I’ve tried perlite, vermiculite and moss, not impressed in any of that, really. What’s the benefit of stratum over pon? Love your relaxing videos!
@mypetitegarden2 жыл бұрын
I have a whole video dedicated to stratum, feel free to take a look at that if you are interested. I am no expert with stratum, mostly just experimenting. It's best to try a few plants with it first and see how it works out for you. Sometimes different substrates work differently for each person. In terms of in this video, I chose to put the cuttings with shorter stems in the stratum vs water because its easier to keep it stable.

Saw your Hoya propagation and reminds me of the lush Hoya elliptica plant I got recently. Unhealthy vines tangle around one another, soil wasn’t looking healthy. I should just only untangle it and let it recuperate, I have regret chopping up the Hoya elliptica and majority of the cuttings are not doing well in water, so much has rot!😢 now I left with few cuttings and the struggle to survive momma plant 😢 Lesson learnt! 🥲🥰
@mypetitegarden2 жыл бұрын
Sometimes cuttings just don't make it and that's okay. You tried your best. Hopefully the few you have left will survive. 🤞
