My 02 Sierra has the little tape player in the center console, & the main radio has the cd player. I ordered a new tape player from 1 Factory Radio that has a aux port built into it. Just have to put a blank tape in the tape player for the aux to work, but it’s loud & super clear.

Could've just bought a cassette adapter for the tape deck for around 10-15 bucks. My radio in the 95 is different than yours, but it still has a functioning tape deck that works well with the adapter. I read in the owners manual where it said it wasn't recommended to use an adapter with the radio that you're using, but a friend of mine has a '99 Suburban with your radio type and the adapter works fine in it.
@hoohoohoblin
@hoohoohoblin 6 жыл бұрын
Thanks. I did that for about a week, but it ruined my cassette player and stopped working, and it wouldn’t play cassettes either, so we had to do this.
@banditdarville96
@banditdarville96 6 жыл бұрын
Ahh, that sucks. That's why the warning is in the owners manual to not use an adapter with this type of radio. Strangely though, as mentioned earlier, the same exact radio in my friends '99 Suburban still works fine with the adapter. Luck of the draw I guess. Keep up the good vids, as mentioned earlier I have a 1995 Silverado, and your videos will be helpful for future reference.

@WooferCooker
@WooferCooker 4 жыл бұрын
I know this comment is super old, but the reason your tape players decide to quit working is because of the belts inside. They get old and wear out, break. The cassette adapter just kinda speeds up the process because the tape player’s guts are being used again for the first time since the 2002 lol.
@banditdarville96
@banditdarville96 4 жыл бұрын
@@WooferCooker My cassette still is working flawlessly. Since my last comment, I bought a bluetooth adapter that plugs into the power outlet nxt to the cig lighter and I've liked using that waaay better than the cassette adapter. Much less trouble to deal with, and like you said, it doesn't wear out the cassette player. Btw, 2 years to me ain't super old LOL.

@hoohoohoblin
@hoohoohoblin 6 жыл бұрын
That’s a good question. I’m not sure if it would work or not. One that I bought needs to have a CD in the CD player for you to be able to use the aux cord. Look around online and see if there are ones that work differently. I think some of them have a physical switch that you can turn on and off, and that might work for you.

I don’t remember. I’ve gotten rid of the adapter since then and went with a whole new stereo. I don’t know if it will work or not, or why the stereos would be different. The head unit will cost you $60, but it's not that easy unfortunately. You need the dash kit and little accessories. But you need one of those PAC switch boxes or you'll lose your steering wheel controls, your amp, subwoofer. This particular car has a Bose stereo built in. If it was a Civic or something, by all means change the head unit.
