Here, KC HiLiTES shows you step by step how to install and wire lights or other accessories into your Jeep Wrangler JL or Gladiator JT Aux Switches. These are an add-on package from Jeep that come with the "Trailer Tow and HD Electrical Group" package, which includes a 240 amp alternator and Auxiliary Switches
These four auxiliary switches located in the cab on lower switch bank of the instrument panel (below the radio/AC controls on the bottom right near the shifter) can be used to power various electrical devices. You can configure the functionality of the auxiliary switches via the Uconnect touch screen display in the settings menu. All switches can be configured for the switch type operation to be latching (stays on when you press it and let go) or momentary (only stays on while you're physically pressing and holding the button). They can also be configured for their power source to be either via the battery or ignition, and the ability to hold last state across key cycles.
The Jeep JL/JT Auxiliary Switches control relays powering four unterminated wires located in two places: 1) in the interior passenger outboard foot well area and 2) on the right side of the engine compartment near the battery. We used the wires under the hood for wiring lighting to the Jeep aux switches.
Our manual states that there are two 15 amp and two 40 amp circuits.
Aux Switch 1 (40 amp) - Tan and Red wire
Aux Switch 2 (40 amp) - Green and Red wire
Aux Switch 3 (15 amp) - Orange wire
Aux Switch 4 (15 amp) - Blue wire
**** The connectors we used are in the link below. However, we were told that Jeep also included heat shrink tubing and terminals for these, but we couldn't find them in our brand-new Jeep.
**** Male Quick-Connect: www.waytekwire...
For over 50 years, the KC brand has been a symbol of outdoor freedom, adventure, quality, and performance. We take features engineered for off-road racing and design them into unique lighting and adventure products used by those who have a thirst for the paths less traveled. We stand for the outdoor enthusiasts - from off-roaders to hikers to mountain bikers and anyone in-between - because that’s who we are, and we make products to allow us to adventure further.

Additional electrical tips... You should use the grounding point provided on the inner fender not the battery. That's why it's there. Keeps the battery terminal unclutered. You should use a female connector on the power source wire not a male spade. If the connection comes loose, the shrouded female connector will protect the circuit from grounding out.

This video is a great place to start, here’s what I’m adding after my experience with my 2019 JL: I purchased the JL ready Flex duals and mount for the pillar mounts and the Flex 10” Light bar for the bumper. The factory harnesses as I got them have tons of extra and unnecessary wiring. Route the wiring for the lights to the battery area, leaving some slack for working material. Since you only need the red and black wires, I was able to trim the harness right after where the two factory harnesses for the pillar lights are crimped together. I attached a ground to the black wire and connected to the body ground and the red to the #4 lead using male/female connectors as shown in video. The light bar was a bit different. The 15 amp #3 lead wouldn’t light up the bar, so I had to use the #2 lead, leaving my lights on the bottom two switches (2 & 4). The process was the same, route wires, then I trimmed the harness at the relay from the factory, added the ground to the black and male connector to the red, and I was in business. The factory harnesses come with several feet of extra wiring for the inside switch and for routing that isn’t necessarily needed for the JL and it really cleaned up the under hood and battery area.

early 2018 JL’s do *not* have those wires under the hood near the batt box. The only wires for the AUX switches are supposedly located under the front passenger plastic side kickplate, together with the connector kit supplied with the AUX Switch option.

I love your stuff but I think you guys should switch the hot wire to a female bit instead of the male spade. FOR SAFETY reasons if that wire or connection were to ever come loose you now have exposed live wire that can short on the body or worst start an electrical fire. The female end is mostly shrouded and would need a pokey bit to short circuit..... let me know if I wrong....

Tx. One thing. Male and female should be the other way round. If you disconnect you have an unprotected + within the reach of a lot of mass connections. So put the female plug on the wire leading towards the battery + . Might save you from some trouble one day.

I have a 2022 JL Rubicon with the AUX switches. I just purchased a set of Flex Era 4 ditch lights. Should I wire them to the 40A or 15A factory AUX leads. Seems to me the 40A is best. Also, in the matter of the amber backlight circuit, Do I HAVE TO wire the backlights (if not, great); or can I just wire them all to the 40A factory AUX and leave the wiring harness fuses in line? I just don't want to use up two of my four factory AUX switches for these lights. I realize that the Mopar AUX switches are not 3-position switches. I am willing to give up the amber backlight option if it will free up one of my AUX switches.
