That's what the OEM part from Mercedes named Auxiliary battery. I believe you didn't do your research.

The falt code or the error message that showed on the instrument cluster said Auxiliary Battery. At the end of the day, it's a module like you described....voltage conveter aka....voltage regulator.

Yes, it showed the message on the gauge cluster.... Auxiliary Battery Malfunction.

How do you test

You can definitely test it, but you have to remove the unit itself and use the equipment which I don't know what equipment the engineer uses to test the device. The only trick that I know is if you get the Auxiliary battery malfunction on your dashboard, it means that the unit is bad. I hope this helps.

You can get it from Amazon (cheapest). It's called voltage converter or auxiliary batter (that's what Mercedes called it).

This warning comes on and than off, looked up the part number on amazon for my 2016 GLC 300 and said will not work?

It does work. What you can do is to get the part number from the Mercedes dealership and find the same part number on Amazon. The warning will continue to come on and off for a while until the part is totally fried then it stays on.
