A Heart block Poem to remember AV blocks that you may find useful :) if the R is far from P, then you have a First Degree. Longer, longer, longer, drop! Then you have a Wenkeback. If some P's just don't get through, then you have a Mobitz II. if P's and Q's just don't agree, then you have a Third Degree.

Thank u, and *PR interval* a.first degree- constant, prolonged b.wencke - keeps on prolonging until a dropped QRS c.mobitz ii - constant, normal or prolonged & periodically dropped QRS

Simply said! Your lecture/presentation was fantastic and marvelous! Very clear! Just like on that lung sounds lecture, this one was so clear and easy to understand. For all this time, I was so confused about the differences between those Heart blocks no matter how often I studied, but now I got it!! you're an amazing teacher!!!

I already thanked "Pima Paramedics" for their video so I can't leave you out. Thanks so much for th video. I was able to figure out AV blocks in about 15 minutes because of your efforts. I'm training to be a paramedic in Ontario and it's definitely not a walk in the park. Your assistance is very much appreciated:)

PR constant and then a drop beat... perhaps there are two types of type 2 2nd degree AV nodal blocks, ie, PR prolonged and constant and or PR constant and not prolonged...

I always remember this by saying “longer longer longer drop... then you have a wenkebach.” Similar to what he said but flows a little easier to me. Hope this helps someone!

A few more points for quickly identifying AV blocks on exam and in practice: 1st degree AV blocks are usually asymptomatic 2nd degree AV blocks always have an irregular QRS rate, 1st does not without premature beats, 3rd is always regular Wenkeback -> the QRS is "walking back" from the p wave Mobitz II does not require PR prolongation 3rd degree AV blocks are usually bradycardic (40-60 for junctional, 20-40 for ventricular) My algorithm: Check rate Check regularity Check p waves

1st degree AV “Block” isn’t actually an actual block. It is more of a delay in the conduction. As can be seen, that is why QRS complexes are still present because the impulses can still pass through the AV node and into the His-Purkinje System but with a prolonged PQ or PR interval because of that delay in conduction :)
