AV receiver cannot replace a stereo integrated amp by any stretch of the imagination. AVR is just not good enough for serious music listening. A stereo integrated amp cannot replace a receiver too. That is the point explained here. Please listen to point 1 .

Not all Marantz are same. Also not all receivers are running class D. Especially the cheaper equipment. High quality class D costs money. And the cheaper good ones are made out of Shenzen. And don’t even think that anything that Marantz making is superior. Listen to a lot more integrated amps and power amps. Especially listen to things like TA N77ES. Sony never sold their top tier equipment in India. What they sold in India is cheap low end stuff. So most Indians have no idea what they were capable of.

Some harmonics are considered even musical. But in general, a lower THD is preferred. A high end amp usually have a diminishing lay low distortion. Something like 0.004% . On a low end amp THD increases rapidly when volume is increased. At some point it can reach some 10%. This is pretty bad.

You don't need a DAC to connect to integrated amp, you can connect using RAC cables directly from mobiles and other sources.

Dac വേണ്ടിവരുമോ?. രണ്ടാമതായി നല്ല integrated amp മാർക്കറ്റിൽ കിട്ടുമോ?. ആമസോണിൽ കാണുന്ന "ഡെനോൺ", യമഹ, ഹാർമൻ, അതുപോലുള്ളവ 60-70's കിട്ടുന്ന amp പോലുള്ളവയാണോ?. ഇതിനു രണ്ടിനും ഒരു ഉചിതമായ മറുപടി പ്രതീക്ഷിക്കുന്നു.👍

Hi Kochu, can the work of a AVR be done using a CPU and an old 5.1 amplifier ? I have a 5.1 amp and wanna set up a home theatre in a dedicated room. However, I don't wanna invest in a AVR for being expensive and can use a sound card on a cpu to get the audio decoded. Your thoughts please !

Hi Arun, If you can find a 5.1 decoder card with pre outs and HDMI input, you can make this work. Such a card might be expensive too. But what you really need is an AV processor at the higher end and a 5.1/ Dolby decoder at the low end. There are any relatively low cost small 5.1 decoders coming from China. You can connect it's pre outs to your multi channel amp.
