Same here :( I lost mine too almost 1,5 months ago (euthanized unexpectedly!). The resemblance... weird. Everything, not just looks! Wanting to keep the toy, the tail wagging, the look with the white of the eyeballs underneath... They are just the greatest! I MISS HIM SO VERY MUCH!! EVERY SINGLE DAY!! He was EASILY the best thing in my life and what I enjoyed most. She's incredible. Make sure you always appreciate her as long as you can. I was just wondering: does anyone ever get another dog after a flat? I do like other dogs and almost got another instead (and lived with some other before). But after I had him, if I could help it, I would always take another flat over anything else. Hmm... watch this carefully. Isn't it interesting? Recently I've found some stats that said, the Golden Retriever is like the 4th most intelligent dog, but Flat-Coated Retrievers are like 18 or so? You think, a Goldie that drops it in like 2 seconds is intelligent? Watch this carefully! You can see the thought process. "Hmm... I wanna go in with it, but something doesn't work out here. So, what do I do here? Maybe if I do it slowly? Uuh, no... that didn't work. Closing the door on me. Maybe if I try with the right foot instead of the left... Hmm... didn't work either... What now?" Notice, that there are actually some really confusing things for the dog here. Like for example, first saying come on and then saying no, first drop the stick. So what do you want me to do here? First you say come, then you close the door on me? Yes, the door is very confusing too. Which one is it? Come in or drop the stick? Door opening for me to get in or door closing for me to stay out? Come on... then closing the door on her... this is very confusing for the dog! Watch her move when the door is further open... She's trying to figure out what's going on here. She's confused by the contradicting suggestions! And my experience is, they are very intelligent. If she didn't already, after the next time she gets it. When I got mine, I would let him go out the back door but wouldn't let him in until he barked just once. That was on the very first day. After the second time he got it. The very next day he did it at the front door as well. They are WAY smarter than they get credit for! Of course, if you work WITH them, you don't get videos like that though. You get an incredible bond with your dog though ;)
