Avalanche Finally Know Their 2nd Round Opponent as the Dallas Stars Defeat the Vegas Golden Knights

It's back to business for the Colorado Avalanche. The rest period is over and Tuesday night they will be back on the ice for Game 1 of Round 2 to face another division rival in the Dallas Stars.
Dallas sent the defending champion Vegas Golden Knights packing Sunday night in a Game 7 thriller. Now the two division rivals will meet up in the playoffs, where the Avs are looking for some revenge since their last playoff meeting that saw Dallas take Game 7 in OT.

I’m a stars fan. I disagree with the idea we’re similar to the jets. We’re offensively focused, they’re defensively focused. We are very similar to Colorado, which is going to cause both teams to get a lot of rush attempts as our offensive-minded defenders get caught pinching up leaving holes. Stars are like Colorado but with less high end talent and more depth. I’m excited for the series.

The worst hockey game I have ever watched was Vancouver and Nashville game 7, all I could think was neither of those teams can even come close to how the AVS are playing right now. Chris, I agree with you if the AVS can keep it in the gear they have found, especially with the 2nd , 3rd and 4th line. I think we are going to smoke these guys. Im like 55-60% confident the avs can beat dallas. I do think it'll almost be a mirror match as i do think the avs have more offense but their goalie might make up for that. But as long as the avs grind it out I think they'll make it. But theres only one way to find out...

The difference in this series will be what each team is playing for...not sure if Dallas has someone or something they're playing for other than to win the cup. Colorado has that same desire, but they also have Parise whose sole purpose of joining the team is to win a cup..that factor, when a team can rally around a player like Parise, combined with the already intense focus of a championship team can be the edge that the Avs need. Just remember Ray Bourque.

Yeah Dallas has 4 players in the top ten most games without a cup, plus our coach has been on the doorstep a bunch of times and never got one. There’s a good chance this is Pavs last year. Benn, Suter, Pavs, and Seguin are no spring chickens.

I think the Avs are good at creating high danger chances. If you think about it the jets goalie really couldn't stop a lot of those goals. That series was more of what the Avs did right vs what the jets did wrong. High volume shooting and high danger chances. The pucks will go in.

The series will come down to Georgiev vs Oettinger. Deboer is great at making adjustments & isn't afraid to play dirty. I expect DAL to target Georgiev & go hard in the blue paint. I'm confident in the Avs skaters, especially after a long rest; I think COL jumps all over DAL in Game 1. Excited to see how Kovalenko looks after some long overdue practice time. We might also see the return of Drouin. CMac loaded up on toughness just for this series & the Avs won't be bullied. But, if I'm Deboer, I try to exploit the goalie who's been a storyline all season.

My take on this series, is Avs in 5. However games are going to be much closer. Avs are going to be a villain team these playoffs by a good road record. My surprise pick of players stepping up is Colton, and Wood, these are reason why the Avs got these players, their the mud for a muddy series. On a limb, I say they rack up 9pts between them

Poor Mikko had six points in four games and he was considered an underachiever before he got a couple of goals. Just goes to show you what the expectations are of this team and the top players. I do hope Kivi is back. He found a gear we didn't know he had in that first round. Kovalenko isn't ready yet. Dallas is going to be a tough competitor. Anyone who thinks this is a sweep by either club is delusional. I'll stand by my feeling that if the Avs play the way they did in games 2-5, there isn't a team in the league that will take them down. Let's just hope it doesn't go to 7, lol. Oh, and another scary statistic - Otter has not given up a goal in the 3rd period. The Avs are going to have to take it to him early.

i was hoping vegas won so we got home ice back and they would of had to fly right in to the altitude and we could of wore em out right away in the first 2 games , but dallas i guess , i watched the series dallas an vegas are both slow , if we can keep the speed up and shots and minimize giveaways we should be good ,not sure if i seen over 27 shots a game for either dallas or vegas in that series ,if we stay on em early and often in the 2 games in dallas and stealing one or both games , they will have nothing left when coming into colorado the altitude will take care of the rest

The stars are not as good defensively, but are better on effense than winnepeg. Big differences for me are that dallas is more consistent than the jets, and more importantly i dont think the avs can break their will like they did to the jets. If the avs play like they did last series they will win, but if their own inconsistency shows up they will be golfing. I have avs in 6

Josh Manson laid out Benn already. I think Wood is going to be a big problem for Dallas physically. I see Dallas taking the Avs if Robertson, Duchene and Pavelski just go a-wall.
