Over 20yrs ago I had a dream about about Avalokiteshvara (Kuan Yin) that I will never forget. I had dream about a large Black Kuan Yin reclining statue and Kuan Yin was holding rosary beads. And I saw a Black boy about 3 yrs old crying and blowing to the Kuan Yin statue. And as the boy was crying and bowing to Kuan Yin,the Kuan Yin statue came alive and Kuan Yin started working the beads in his hand and I woke up. Well about 6 months ago I purchased a Black Kuan Yin image of Kuan Yin holding a Black child off eBay, and for some reason I believe that image is connected to the dream I had of Kuan Yin over 20yrs ago. В ✨🌼🌍🌼✨💫 🎼🎼🎼🎼🎼🎼🎼🎼🎼🎼🕉👥🎼🎼🎼👥🕉🎼🎼🎼🎼🎼🎼

What practice helps with health?
@BuddhaWeekly6 ай бұрын
Usually recommended practices for health generally are White Tara (long life and health and healing and pacifying all negativities) and Medicine Buddha because of his Sutra Vow to heal anyone who called out his name and practiced his mantra with faith. We do have videos on these topics. I find listening to both very healing. According to Sutra even just "hearing" the mantras is healing (of course chanting is best) -- and for this reason many of us also play these mantras for sick friends and also our animal companions. We have a two-hour chanting video (you could play in the background or chant along when actively meditating) on White Tara here: kzbin.info/www/bejne/gX-od4tpi9tqkM0 For Medicine Buddha we have both the Longer Dharani (which I find extremely empowering and healing) and his shorter mantra. His long Dharani as a one hour play is here: kzbin.info/www/bejne/mKOnin9-gNGdja8 His mantra video chanting is: kzbin.info/www/bejne/fZOVe2mDjc6NsMU A movie about Medicine Buddha and how to practice: kzbin.info/www/bejne/opLWg2V_gMaNqbM All SIX of the White Tara Mantras is chanted here: kzbin.info/www/bejne/bF6vqHWDrL-Laq8 May all beings benefit. So what is the mantra of Avalokitesvara that anyone can chant without initiation that also surely leads to liberation?
@BuddhaWeekly6 ай бұрын
The Universal Gate Sutra refers to rescues of people who have faith and devotion who call the name of Avalokieshvara. This is, in Sanskrit, Namo Avalokiteshvara Bodhisattva (usually chanted Namo Avalokiteshvara Bodhisattvaya). It is also translated as Namo Guanshiyin Pusa (same thing Guanshiyin is Avalokiteshvara and Pusa means Bodhisattva). There are numerous chants of Namo Guanshinyin Pusa. We have a video of it here: kzbin.info/www/bejne/iGO3gpSFqNyXnbc We will in the future be recording this chant in Sanskrit, but at the moment we only have the longer Dharani available here: kzbin.info/www/bejne/o5ynommjlsqiZ68 , along with the six syllable mantra, Om Mani Padme Hum here: kzbin.info/www/bejne/hqLFqISlnt1njs0 But, specifically, what's referred to in this sutra is the name praise (sometimes called a mantra) Namo Avalokiteshvara Bodhisattvaya. In kindness, BW

Hi BuddhaWeekly! Do you know what this mantra chanted by Imee Ooi is? I tried to search on google but there's no information. What are its effects and all is what i want to know. Is there a sutra for this? kzbin.info/www/bejne/fmHdnWSreMlki7sfeature=shared Thanks for answering
@BuddhaWeekly6 ай бұрын
It is referenced, especially in translations from Chinese, but there's not a lot of information. It translates just as the mantra Om Mani Padme Hum followed by a praise (see my translation below). Om maņi padme hum. Mahājñāna cittotpāda, cittasya na-vitarka, sarvārtha bhūri siddhaka, na-purāņa na-pratyutpanna. Namo Lokeśvarāya svāhā. Maha Jnana means Great Light (energy) of knowledge (wisdom) cittotpāda means “mind of awakening” cittasya is “by the mind” or “for the mind” na (not) vitarka is “cognition” sirvartha (all senses) bhuri (abundance) (siddhi) is accomplishment na-purana (na is not) purana is (old) so, not old or not ancient na- pratyutpanna (na is not) pratyutpanna (produced or generated) not produced Namo (I bow to) Lokeśvarāya (Avalokiteshvara) Svaha (well said) The "not" statements (such as "not cognition" refer to transcendent wisdom that transcends ordinary mind, ordinary cognition) -- etc. -- but this is my opinion, as I don't haven't received a transmission or teaching on this version of the mantra. Hope that helps. It's essentially a praise, much like a Dharani, that wraps around the core mantra of Om Mani Padme Hum. In kindness, BW

Beautiful work for a Bodhisattva ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤😊😊😊😊😊😊 Will there be a documentry on avalokiteshvara? I also need help, What is the relation between arya tara and avalokiteshvara? Please help me Can I practice meditation on both arya tara and avalokiteshvara
@BuddhaWeekly6 ай бұрын
Dear Dharma Friend, Yes, you can certainly practice both Arya Tara and Avalokiteshvara, in fact they are both vitally important to practice and very much related. Avalokiteshvara represents the compassion of all the Buddhas. Tara in her aspect as White Tara and Prajnaparamita is the Wisdom of all the Buddhas. Green Tara is the Activity of All the Buddhas. Expressing this is one of the emanation stories of Tara. When Avalokiteshvara despaired of saving all beings -- no matter how many he saved, there were billions more in samsara -- he cried tears. The great Mahasiddha Sūryagupta explains this beautiful story as follows: "What was Her origin? - Arya-Lokesvara, the Lord and Refuge of the Three Realms, Desire, Form, and Formless ... saw that however many migrating beings he removed from samsara, they grew no fewer, and He wept. Tara sprang from the opening filaments of his face - of an utpala (blue lotus) that grew in the water of His tears." In versions of this beautiful story, from the tear of one eye arose Green Tara. From the tear of the other White Tara. (You don't have to take this story as literal. It's meant to poetically express how activity (Green Tara) and Wisdom (White Tara) is how compassion manifests. In some traditions, we say that all emanations of compassion are Avalokiteshvara and all emanations of activity and Wisdom are manifestations of Tara. Wisdom and Compassion are the "two wings" of Enlightenment, and "activity" is how the bird takes flight (to use that metaphor.) We do have several video features on the Compassionate Bodhisattva. On the topic of Guan Yin Avalokiteshvara Delivers From 10 Great Fears: Buddhist Sutra Dharma Teaching kzbin.info/www/bejne/npmVknWdn5KoibM Guanyin Avalokiteshvara Tara - Saving Us From Danger: The Burning House, the Jewel in the Robe (this has famous Sutra parables): Guanyin Avalokiteshvara Tara - Saving Us From Danger: The Burning House, the Jewel in the Robe There's also a playlist which includes the mantras: kzbin.info/www/bejne/npmVknWdn5KoibM&list=PL8d71VyWOwkHfi2K5cj7nX1QipOzED23P&index=2 In future, we may also do a documentary-style video on the Lord of Compassion. In kindness, BW
