Great review as usual and the tank looks beautiful!👌🏻 It seems some of these “copy” guns are starting to go up in price, these manufacturers are going to shoot themselves in the foot and be sitting on a lot of them if that keeps up lol. Then again the prices of all the big players have gotten extreme. Great job as usual though Pete, I really enjoy watching your vids👍🏻

Hi Mate, good to hear you enjoy the videos, I genuinely enjoy making them 😊 Yes, I'm beginning to feel the same. Everything is going up, especially the top guns from the top names. When you start looking at 150 USD plus for a gun, there starts to get more available, so I think you could be right. Certainly, in the case of this gun, I feel the Dram is better and cheaper, cheers 👍

I was wondering when you were going to get to the Avalon. Again, I have to say that I really really like the Dram after spraying some parts. The atomization with MS clear and a touch of retarder (to deal with extreme heat) has been spot on with what I prefer. At 20 psi, it produces very tight orange peel fitting of most Japanese cars. I would imagine at 25 psi, it would give quite a flat finish, so that seems about right to shoot HS clear around 29 psi. The fan is very even and overspray, not bad at all compared to the FLG5 that I like for the same clear. Surprisingly, I favor the Dram more than the LPH400 because I can really get on with it and still produce a very nice finish without gobs of pressure
@peteshobbies53834 ай бұрын
Hi Boss, Sounds like we think alike on the Dram, I think for 100 bucks it's a bit of a bargain, not sure about longevity yet but time will tell, cheers mate, hope alls well with you 👍
@JohnWD40TC024 ай бұрын
Hi Pete, the finish from the WLS400 looks really nice with a good flat finish so it looks like it's a decent gun it's just a shame the build quality isn't up to the price of the gun. It didn't look to slow for a 4 split tip either as it seemed faster than my WS400 saying that though I think most split tip guns are🤔😁it's a nice looking gun that reminds me a bit of my Bellaria👍 Talking about overspray I broke the Blue Astro out today and while it did a good job on the clear there did seem like a lot more overspray was in the air than normal, it could be my filter which needs a change but it should be up on my channel later so you will be able to see the clouds in my booth☁🌪😂 Thanks Pete👍
@peteshobbies53834 ай бұрын
Hi John, The Avalon is a 1.4, so it is a bit faster than a WS in 1.3. It's more aimed at the LPH than the WS, I would say, so you use lower pressures. It's a good gun. If I hadn't used the Dram or Porphis guns, I would be more positive towards it, I think I would be more enthusiastic about it. Haven't used my Astro for a wile but can't remember it being that bad on overspray, certainly the DV1 Clear gun sticks out in my mind as far as overspray goes 😬, I keep a look out for your video later mate, cheers 👍
@JohnWD40TC024 ай бұрын
Problem is mate you've been spoilt with the low price with the high quality of the Porphis guns, there is nothing (so far) that beats it in the price range😁😆 I think the overspray is more to do with my filters than the gun, tomorrow is booth cleaning day😧the video is up mate it's later than usual as it kept failing every time I tried to upload it but it went on the forth try🤦♂cheers buddy👍

Hi Pete, have you ever used the kapci 6050 clear coat? The final results were worth watching the video. But tbh all your results are good. I don't think I've seen a bad paint job from your videos. Please definitely do a follow-up video of the airbrush stencils and how you do it. It would be a good watch. Thanks, keep up the goos work
@peteshobbies53834 ай бұрын
Hi Mate, No, I haven't used it yet, I had a load of different clear coats to get through, and once I do, I'll get some to try. I know someone who does use it, and he seems happy with it. I'm not sure it is better than the 6030, it's should be a quick flash and a full coat being a UHS. I was surprised when the price came out, as you probably know its 50% more than the 6030 which seems quite a jump, cheers mate, good to hear you like the videos 👍

Hi pete another good video thanks for sharing that very well explained what do you think pete of that KAPCI clear coat paint I use you think pete it's good as the upol you use or both the same can you use pete that hot air gun on mirror caps light heat 😊
@peteshobbies53834 ай бұрын
Hi Andrew, The Kapci is definitely better than the Upol , it flows out better and holds its gloss better. I bought 10 x 7.5 litre kits of the Upol at a very special price so that's why I use it so much, but I also have the Kapci, Mipa CX4, Max Meyer 0300 now 0320, and another 3 different one's, so plenty to choose from. I have 2 x upol kits left, so I don't think I will get any more unless it comes up cheap again. Yes, use a hot air gun to warm the mirror pods up before you put the paint on, not straight after, cheers mate 👍

@ANDY-we7mr I really like the 0300, I knew they were changing to the 0320, so I bought 4 x 5lt of the 0300 tins, I still have 1 full tin left , it smells like pear drops 😂

Iv gotta be honest all 3 painters at my work are struggling with the 6030 it seems very thin for a high solids. We've just moved on to it as we got it at a good price so we are stuck now with x5 7.5L kits lol. Its been bang on for small panels but full resprays We've all suffered runs more times than we are used to. Hopefully will dile it in but on first impressions i think will not be getting any more. Maybe a bad batch who knows. 😂 it is nice the flat and buff though and does hold the gloss well which is why we changed clears in the first place.
@peteshobbies53834 ай бұрын
Hi Buddy, I guess clears are a little like that. When you change, it can be a struggle at first, I never do a full respray or anything like it, so maybe I haven't found the problem because of that, having said that, the bike stuff I normally do is quite technical with lots of underhanging bits which will normally cause problems if it's going to happen. One thing I will say is the hardeners are way out time wise, the fast is a normal and extra fast is a fast so worthwhile remembering, it's be interesting to hear how you end up when you've all used it more, cheers mate 👍
@ForwardMovingDesigns4 ай бұрын
@peteshobbies5383 yes we got one little bottle of fast to try but luckily ordered the kits with extra fast our rep advised it thankfully 😄 will let you know if we manage to get along with it. Might try warming it up that's the last resort 😅

Looks like a nice finish Pete, but like you I like good quality guns so only have DeVillbiss, Iwata and Meiji. I don't like the fact that these Chicom guns are just copies with no R&D investment.
@peteshobbies53834 ай бұрын
Hi Ken, I really only get these to see what they are like and to share it on the channel. Some are quite good, and some are not so good. TBH, if I didn't have this little KZbin channel I wouldn't be getting them, I, like you, have many quality guns so there no need to get these, and I know what you are saying about leaching off others R&D . Having said that, I do know some that have bought copies and then gone on to get the real thing, something of which I was guilty of when I got a W101 copy, I was so pleased with it I bought a few different Kiwami1 Iwatas so it's not all downwards for the genuine manufacturers, cheers mate 👍

What units are you measuring your liquids with the scale?
@peteshobbies53834 ай бұрын
Hi mate, it's grams, check the TDS for the clear coats you use or weigh out a sample, virtually all the ones I use are the same weigh for hardener and clear, so 100g clear to 50g hardener for 2 to 1
