How to get a better drone signal with the dji avata 2.
AVATA 2 really does give better signal, you just have to point the motion controller 3 into the direction of the drone.
With the avata 1 it doesn't matter which direction you site in. Signal comes in really strong in any direction unless there are other drones in the air, then just pic another channel.

On the Avata 2, all RF to the drone comes from the Goggles 3. The Motion Controller 3 and the FPV Remote 3 only communicate via RF to the Goggles 3. If you noticed a bit rate increase, it was because you turned your Goggles toward the Avata 2.

not sure if you did it (I'm half way on the video while typing this) but, if the drones are not armed, their transmission are on PIT mode. Hence if you look at the googles even if the google are just inches away from the Avata you will see that you only get half of the bandwith 30/60 Mbps, but once you arm it you will get the full power of the transmission.

I don't have the avata one. I have the fpv and Avata 2. I get better range on the FPV. I don't know what's up with my Avata 2 but my range sucks. I am ready to send it back.

I was sure that the power was based on the distance to the drone for the O4 system. At close range lower power based in feedback and at farther distances the power gets jacked up.

Mine failsafed once in manual mode during an identical situation that my mini 4 handled just fine several times. I tried the same thing on 2.4 ghz and felt like I had better results. I didn't failsafe but I was much more mindful in my approach because of the first scare.

Hi Lou, I'm very surprised by your test result (regarding controller signal to the aircraft), it's different from Ian (Mad's tech): GFSK Transmission. The DJI Avata 2 is based on O4 and there has been a change to how the remote controller works with the drone, in previous models the DJI remote communicated with the drone directly however with the Avata 2 the DJI FPV Remote V3 and DJI RC Motion 3 now communicate with the DJI Goggles 3 via a 2.4Ghz GFSK protocol and the goggles pass that communication onto the drone. As a result is not possible to fly the DJI Avata 2 with out the DJI Goggles 3 being turned on and corrected. Any loss off goggles connection will result in the Drone entering failsafe.

I have doubts about your RF meter (Erickhill ER-02), it's a very cheap model and has bad reviews regarding RF bandwidth measure results.

Possible - it’s still disappointing that everything looses signal when pointed away from the drone during flight with the Avata 2. Kind of don’t need a meter for that experience.. Bummer that only with the AVATA 1 it doesn’t matter which way you sit and you’ll never loose signal.. Would be nice to have that with the newer drone Thanks for the tip on the other video … will have to check it out..

I'm getting more and more disappointed with DJI Avata 2. One of these is that they have removed the FCC hack in the European region, the other is frequency and durability. I can only fly 500 meters away, and that is if there is no obstacle in the way.

Probably for the best experience one would have to get a swivel chair.. Tad of a bummer but the drone has an amazing camera..
