ISO is an artificial computer processing that can brighten an image usually at the loss of clarity or often while introducing noise into the image. In photography, the lower ISO the better but you often require a higher level of ISO to compensate for low-light situations. These cameras would combat the pitfalls of the high ISO levels by implementing larger apertures to allow more light into the sensor while developing a more competent processing CPU to remove noise at those higher ISO levels.
