Despite its formulaic plot, I still love this film a lot.

incredible cgi for its time and a fantastic score can let us overlook a lazy storyline lol

What's wrong with the plot?

The thing about "formulaic" plots is ... they're only formulaic if you, personally, have seen them before. I first saw Avatar when I was 15. I hadn't seen any of the films the movie gets criticized for being similar to. And ultimately what matters is not originality but execution. Avatar executes its story pretty darn well. You feel for Jake and Neytiri, you love vicariously inhabiting Pandora, you cry when tragedy strikes, and you cheer when Jake and Neytiri do great things.

@@ontariochurchstories7276 exactly! The basic plot is cliche, but they built on it until it was it's own thing

@Stephen Docherty I don't think OP contradict themselves, they just state that they still like the overall movie regardless of the fact that there are a few things they're not crazy about, a bit like if you disliked someone's eating habits but they were still your best friend. I personally watch several movies despite not liking several things about them. To me, formulaic means that the base story follows a set of plot points that are common enough to form a formula of sorts for an action romance, in this case. There's nothing wrong with this, but some people don't love getting the same story just with different settings and characters.

Personally I think that "Tower of God" has a soundtrack which is a little bit similar to Avatar's, maybe not the way you want, but in my opinion you should check it :) kzbin.info/www/bejne/baPUdnVqrbONi5Y kzbin.info/www/bejne/raKweGavoZ2im6c I also think that this song fits Avatar's vibe kzbin.info/www/bejne/bmTVlnyabqiSl6s Cheers :)
