While I did note* that it has repetitive aspects - I genuinely was enjoying my time with this one. I was constantly exploring the world ignoring main objectives and loved every bit of it. The biggest issue is really just the flimsy combat design.

I'm about 10 hours in and I'm really enjoying it. Some of the side quests kinda seem like "fetch quests" but it gives me a chance to explore the amazing world so I don't mind them. It's one of those games where when I turn it on, I just don't know where to start because there's a lot I want to do. This is one of those "take your time and enjoy games" that I'll be in and out of for the next year. At full price I think it's a pretty good deal - anything around $40-$50, it's worth it.

I got Ubisoft+ for just 1 month. $15. Gonna play this game a bunch during the next 30 days and I've also been playing AC Mirage, which I'm actually enjoying a little bit more than Avatar, then when my subscription is over, I'll walk away from these games for a while, or maybe I'll have beaten both of them. If I haven't beaten them, and still wish to, I'll buy Ubisoft+ again in a few months to try Skull and Bones if it looks worth it, and to finish Avatar + AC Mirage.

I am about 5 hours into the game - so far I am enjoying it. It feels like Far Cry Primal in a sense but just bigger and looks incredible. However the world is just too damn big and you run and fly so slowly. There have already been a few missions that I had to run 15 minutes of real life time to get to the objective and there just isnt enough in the world to justify that. At least in Far Cry 5 and 6 there were a lot of random encounters to keep it fresh.

Been playing all week and today I physically climbed to the highest point because my ik’ran wouldn’t come to the location I was in and I captured what it looks like from up there, it’s insane to think when you look down that those trees tower over you yet they’re dots beneath the clouds when you reach the highest point; it’s such a breathtaking game and even the combat flows so well when you understand you’re supposed to be sneaky and less aggressive although with help from your mounts you can overwhelm most fights you take on; I highly recommend this game to anyone with Ubisoft+ already as you won’t miss out on a thing

I am thoroughly enjoying this game. As a huge fan of Avatar, this delivers an experience that i cant get from any other "another ubisoft game", and thats to live and travel on Pandora. That alone was worth me buying this game. For those of us who have felt that deep ache since the first movie, this satisfied something in me that no other game could. I have spent hours just wandering and watching the fauna and touching the plants, and just *being* in the world. Its not just a game, its the true experience of leaving reality for a while and existing somewhere else. Somewhere beautifully sacred and alive. Maybe its because I'm indigenous, but to be able to explore a place that is so similar to my cultural roots and its beliefs, and for that to be held as sacred instead of mocked and made fun of, its very special for me. I can empathize with the story and although I don't feel all that attached to any of the characters, its not a deal breaker for me. My only complaint is that the story is what it is no matter what and there are no dialogue options. Thats the only thing I would change. Like other ubisoft games, Assassin's creed in particular, I was hoping this would be a story with multiple possible endings based on your choices made throughout, so the fact that its just a linear script was a bit disappointing. BUT I can live with it.
@blinkachu5275
@blinkachu5275 10 ай бұрын
I agree on the no dialogue options, sometimes the Na'vi you play as would say something where I was like "hmm, I would've gone a different way" But I also think it's not immersion breaking or making the game bad by any stretch

Why does everyone expect every game to be a 10/10 masterpiece? If you aren’t a fan of the franchise, then yeah you might not like the game. But it does what it sets out to do perfectly. It’s a gorgeous game that represents Pandora perfectly and lets you experience being Navi. Do you really need it to be a super deep complex RPG on the level of Skyrim?
@OhShanna
@OhShanna 10 ай бұрын
My thoughts exactly. I love Skyrim, but if I want to play that, I can go play that, and with mods, I can play graphically updated versions that look modern. What Skyrim can't give me, is the chance to live my dream of traveling to Pandora. No game is perfect for everyone, they won't always check every box. But for those who truly *get* the meaning behind Avatar and for those who fell in love with Pandora, this game is highly ambitious and meets a lot of what I needed to experience. There are things I would add, absolutely, but I am content with how it is. I'm also pleasantly surprised at how little bugs I've run into considering I pre-ordered. Usually day one games are full of issues, but I think I've run into ONE problem, that was easily remedied by quitting and restarting the game.

I will say, that as much as I genuinely like the game it was fairly disappointing never getting to see the Na’Vi in combat. They legit have no AI, so you’re only seeing them doing some repeated animation. Would have loved to see them attacking the RDA, transportation stuff around maybe hunting animals. It’s not as emergent like the Far Cry series. It’s just makes the world incredibly lonely.

This game was kind of an impulse buy for me. I was shocked at how much I’m actually enjoying it. I toyed with it the first few days after purchase but after I had invested 2-3 hours I found myself hooked. It’s surprisingly well put together. I only have a small list of wants: I’d like a third person view somewhere down the line, it doesn’t make sense to spend so much work/time on making your character look great if you can’t see them 90% of the time. I’d also like the environment to include more immersive things like Na’vi hunting parties or fights between Na’vi and RDA. More varieties of fauna as well.

Kinda. Far cry has better combat mechanics and variety. Avatar's world does enough different to differentiate itself in that regard. You don't NEED to kill every guard at an outpost for example. The plants also have more reason for existing in the world, whereas Far cry's jungles are all there for show and not much else.

Hundreds of hours in AC/FC/WD, took a Ubisoft+ month just for this (AC Mirage was more than a month ago). Played Avatar only about 1/3 of that month's days (and only for 1-2 hour session) because it was so dull, boring and way too hard. Spent most of the month on Ghost Recon Wildlands (2017) and got that to about 80% of the whole map icon plethora. I'd consider continuing Avatar (even with the dull/boring story and dialog; voice acting was decent) if there was an actual easy/story mode - without eating and cooking, with working stealth, less gear crafting, much larger inventory and most importantly: with HUD markers that show me (from miles away, through plants/mountains/buildings) exactly where to go until I'm literally at that spot. Just like you can enable in other recent Ubisoft titles.

Now a days games have become a chore than enjoying something on your free time. Too many nonsensical side missions (just for the sake of it) and upgrades options. Which essentially ruins the fun for the player. Devs need to take hints from games like Uncharted and Last of us where story flows and discover upgrades as you progress on the story. I think Ubisoft throwing same old formula they used in Far Cry here as well but in different environment and different characters. That is another reason this game feels so repetitive because you already done same activities before in another game and you are merely playing a shadow of that game he on different skin.

This game came out at a bad time. Between this and Rogue Trader, Rogue Trader is more my speed.

I am 10 hours in and I absolutely love the game, just the fact of being able to wander across pandoras vegetation is worth the ticket for me. Totally recommend it ❤,as for the gameplay , same old same old as all the other 1000 open world game out there. But the world is beautiful in every sense you can just admire the landscape without moving.

They have the chance to at least put some effort into the third person's cutscene, or put a toggle for a third person or the first person to see our gear, just to shake the feeling that this game is just FAR CRY in Avatar suit.

“It’s a lot like far cry old outpost cleaning mechanic” 😂😂😂😂 bro just say it’s a generic Ubisoft open world game and save us the time. We all know that this game regardless of the IP attached is just standard Ubisoft

Would've gotten it day one if the game ran better for a 3090ti. He said the game struggled to maintain 60 fps with a 4090 and a 13900k... thats insane.. Really goes to show that even the 40 series is not well equipped to master RT at native 4k which is the standard or at least it should be. As good as RT looks it needed to have been more economical on the hardware before it became a main stay. If a feature is a struggle for even the highest tier of GFX card then either release the hardware that can own it or dont include the feature. As it stands and as i see it, every game today wants to have rt without the ability to perform over 30fps to boot or has to be downgraded in some regard to compensate for the RT perf heft. That's a total limp IMO

The main issue with this review is that it's comparing it to Far Cary while it's not a Far Cry game. Even the movement is compared to Far Cry and it's nothing like the movement in Far Cry. It is far more closer to Dying Light 2.

Comparing this and horizon is a little bit crazy if you ask me, in horizon you have variety in the combat compared to this trust me. Combat feels flat probably the worst I've seen in a game in a few years it's just boring bland combat you literally do 2 things dodge and shoot and even when you connect with a shot it doesn't feel satisfying for some reason.

The game is good but could be SOOO much better for this price. 95% of animals and plants you see don't give any materials, just coulis.There are really only few animals you can actually hunt. You cant sell or reuse your gear, and because inventory is small you have to throw a lot of stuff away. Gameplay is too slow and the leveling system, I just hate it. And the guns are just awefull. It feels uurgh.. really bad and because of this I have to take care about an whole army with a bow?!.. there are a lot of things. The game just feels somehow unfinished in many ways.
