Some "easter eggs" to notice in this episode 2:49 When they ransack Appa's saddle, one of the sandbenders opens an umbrella. That's the umbrella that the Gaang got in the episode "The Fortuneteller" 3:13 "We need the shirshu spit darts!" The shirshu was the creature that the bounty hunter named June had (from episode 15 "Bato of the Water Tribe), as you should remember, it's saliva contains paralyzing agents. 3:45 this is the same circus that Ty Lee was from. The guy at 5:02 is the guy that Azula was talking to when she was sabotaging Ty Lee's show. 13:07 When Appa is flying into Ba Sing Se, you can see the cats from the previous episode that led Momo to the footprint. This is the saddest episode of all in my opinion, even way more sad than the Iroh scene last episode. Just the whole build up with Appa missing for already so many episodes and then dedicate one *full episode* of feeling worse and worse for Appa. When I first watched it my eyes became very watery and I had to fight to not just start crying. EDIT: Same happened when watching this reaction.
@thedeadice61214 жыл бұрын
@★ Froggie Animation ★ In my opinion people hype up the sadness of the Iroh scene way too much. Yes, it's sad, but it's only for a few moments, and then we're on to Aang making zoos and Sokka doing haiku. Appa's Lost Days is an entire episode of feeling bad for Appa, and the empathy buildup is massive, seeing him fly all around alone, searching for food, missing Aang, makes me feel like garbage for him just by typing about it right now.

He's gonna overcome this and become stronger." ...what. I understand broadly where you're coming from, but no. This wasn't a person struggling against their limits in pursuit of a goal. As Guru Pathik said, "fear has moved in where trust should be." Appa didn't become stronger from this, and if he did it would still have been at the expense of trust; the Kyoshi Warriors and Pathik had to work hard to undo the damage from the pain and cruelty.

I don't necessarily dislike Nahid, but I swear he says some of the absolute stupidest shit I've ever heard. In this video, Nahid deadass said that Appa being abused was gonna make him stronger and that he's "been pampered" up until now, when we've literally seen Appa flying across the world and fighting alongside the others since the beginning. Abuse is not like a necessary thing to "overcome" that will make you stronger, especially not animal abuse. That's not how animals work. Nahid has the dumbest opinions of the group, by far. I know you commented 2 years ago, but I still wanted to respond because Nahid's comment pissed me off and I was looking for a comment that mentioned this lol

kay sal I always thought of them as Arabs because they live in the dessert and most of them have bushy beards and most Asians have straight beards. And I don't know why but the earth benders from the army look like them the most that's why I thought that. I guess everyone sees them differently. This is how I see them all: water benders are eskimos/Siberians, firebenders are Japanese, airbenders are Chinese and earth benders are Arabic. Also you could see earth benders as Mongolian but yeah they don't really look like Mongolians.

Earth Kingdom architecture, clothing, etc draws inspiration from Qing and Han dynasty China. However, ethnically there's a lot of variation, so Earth Kingdom people are probably a melting pot of Chinese, Chinese ethnic minorities, and maybe some South Asian. I think the Sandbenders seem like they're Arabic or North African in style? They are earth benders too so they would be included as well.

"before the avatar, we din't bend the elements, but the energy" 12:46 I din't realize it yet but... Was Guru Pathik energybending?
@OlPalJoe4 жыл бұрын
Yessir, it's the core of all bending in the end, and he was aware of it. I always had a theory that fire benders were closer to energy bending then any other bending style because they directly convert chi to energy. I bet Iroh or old Zuko could have learned it
@rohhaiil4 жыл бұрын
Actually no. It was stated that only the Avatar can energybend if granted the ability. I think Pathik did what Aang did in the swamp to locate Appa. Only difference is that Pathik being very spiritual was able to find Aang (Appa and Aang had same/mixed spiritual energy. So Pathik sensed Appa's energy and then looked for another source of that energy i.e. Aang. He tracked the source of energy in the world, but didn't bent/manipulate it). Aang, in Swamp required a heavy spiritual place (the swamp tree and its connections) to find Appa.
@rohhaiil4 жыл бұрын
@@OlPalJoe Energybending is bending pure energy (Chi, Spiritual energy etc). Firebending, like other arts, includes chi only acting with environment, only difference being in other cases, chi controls earth/water/air but in case of Fire it ignites the air to create fire.
@OlPalJoe4 жыл бұрын
@@rohhaiil I understand that chi goes into the use of all bending. My point is that because a fire bender has to use pure chi to create their element as opposed to controlling an element outside, that they would be more acclimated to direct uses of energy/chi. Especially lightning users and redirecters who are used to controlling and channeling vast amounts of energy. Also, from a purely out of lore, long time fan of the series perspective-fire needs a new skill. Lightning and combustion aren't bad, but the other elements (especially water) have so many more applications and variants than fire. I thought that this would be a nice thing to give to them in a new series. And it would be kind of poetic that the move that ended the oppressive Ozai way of being a bender would become accepted among the fire nation. Just my thoughts!

1:35 "That's a menacing voice actor" So uhhhhhh for people who didn't know, Long Feng is voiced by Clancy Brown who also voices Mr. Krabs. I learned that fact a while ago and now it is 100% impossible for me to take Long Feng seriously. (You really notice that its the same dude in the scene where he gets arrested like two or so episodes after this one)

When you think about it, that kid probably saw Appa's situation as his own, since his father's attitude towards him probably went a lot deeper than what a kid show could've shown.

I don't think it was too dark maybe he just recognised himself in Appa and wanted to help animals

I *cackled* when he asked that question and I was hoping in the editing he would put a picture of Mr Krabs on the screen 😂

This episode was so hard to watch for me when I first starting watching this series, I had loved Appa from the beginning and when I first watched this episode I had to literally restrain myself from crying because my parents were nearby:(
