Could make a sequel to this ripping apart TLOK's politics. I didn't really make it all that clear but in the comic's new timeline, the other nations are victim blamed for the war. Being colonised in Gene Yang's version means mostly equal, actually civilised, etc. If they just submitted, they could've avoided genocide, collateral damage, etc (except for the Air Nomads) and would've gotten a pretty sweet deal. Sozin was right my asshole.
