I honestly enjoyed it because it gave more depth instead of showing the exact same thing but animation wise you can literally notice it when they’re jumping or something like it was so obvious.

Oh, the first person that enjoyed the new version of the series. The new story did additional material. Animation could been better. Once creators left, it seemed like Netflix made new changes for the story.

People that are open minded enough to look at an adaption based on its on merits rater than defaulting to a braindead 'IT MUST BE THE SAME AS THE ANIMATED' caveman response. I too enjoyed it bro but it is not about showing the same exact thing even with the changes the episode to episode disconnection is more. And spirited land they skipped it. Lots and lots of changes cut the depth of the Avatar. And i can't even accept the total serious aang. It just makes aang a side character. Sokka is dead. But we can say it is faaaaar better than 2010 last Air bender movie.

If you think a beloved cartoon can be converted seamlessly 1:1 into live action you really need to stay away from reviewing. its an adaption. If you were expecting some impossible live action clone of course your going to be disappointed. You do understand they're vastly different mediums right? Be flexible when considering adaptions....sure they changed alot but the character beats were adapted wonderfully for a condensed live action. Open your mind or 1k subscribers is all youll get.

Wrong, no one expected a 1:1 remake but if you change the characters depth wise and keep the same story of those characters but not why the side characters are there, then they’re there for no reason. Sokka starts the series sexist part of the reason they met Aang was because of Sokka sexist comments and it enrages Katara which allows her bending to become rampant and cuts through the ice accidentally. (Not weak ass bending to bring a canoe) there’s no point in the Kyoshi warriors because the point of them wasn’t just for avatar Kyoshi story it was so that Sokka could learn not to underestimate women understand that his perception of the world was skewed due to only being in the Southern Water tribe which leads to him humbling himself and learning from the Kyoshi warriors and then later being trained by Master Piendou or however you spell it. Katara from the beginning yes is motivated by what happened to her mother to be a maternal role due to her own guilt but also wants to learn of her culture of bending thus making her steal the Water Bending scroll from the Pirates thus her wanting to follow Aang and head to the North Pole to learn Water Bending. (Again I’ll reiterate you can make changes to the STORY but if you change what makes these characters unique and special then you might as well have just made a different story and called it something else) this is also likely why the original creators left due to the creative differences. I’m sure they had no issue with adapting the story to something that could work in live action but when you change what makes a character unique the character loses depth and it makes it harder to attach yourself to them. If anything the Netflix one feels far more made for children then the original other then the Genocide which is the only “mature” thing they did

Oh I thought people loved it? seems a lot of people in my country enjoyed it, including me. the visuals, the action, and even the story itself are still enjoyable to me! yea sure some parts are disappointing plot wise, but most of it is actually pretty cool ngl

Not everyone watched the animated version like me and I still had a great time watching the live action series. Gave it a 7.5/10 my main con was the acting you can tell some of em it’s their first time acting idk. But overall it was a good watch 👍🏾

Waited to watch the full Netflix series because I expected the same from you. In all honesty, I don't love the adaptation. I wish it gave the story more time to breathe and let the Northern Air Temple episode with the machinist stand separately from the other episodes leading up to Omashu. By condensing several episodes into the city, they made the world seem small and barren. I think episode 6 was the adaptation at its best where it blended The Blue Spirit and The Storm to great results. Going forward, I want them to take their time and add an extra episode or two so they don't have to cut important story beats and mash them up in ways that don't make sense.

That wasn't disappointing. You expected copy of an animated series and you didn't get it and disliked it. I think they did a great job and at some points they did better than animated series. Yeah it's not perfect but nothing is perfect in this world.

I had issues with the live action as well but I gotta correct you they never insinuated that he was a prodigy Avatar they said he was a prodigy Air Bender which is true, but I agree entirely with how stupid making him fly was because in order to fly as an Air Bender you have to detach yourself from the world and Aang can never do that as the Avatar and he can never do that because he loves his family in team Avatar which this Netflix did a terrible job with they didn’t feel like a family

You're right. Live action didn't care for. True right, Aang was prodigy Airbender. Once creators left Netflix do creative differences guess Netflix continued showing that changing certain things wasn't in the original series, story wise, and character changes. Good news creators of Avatar aang animated and Avatar Korra animated movies come to theaters. Also, the third Avatar animated series.

@@illblerdmatic1 I’m excited for those but I didn’t expect a 1:1 it was impossible for them to achieve certain things but I expected more then 8 episodes to flesh out the characters more and actually flesh out the plot my issues are with the plot that they built and how they already finished book 1 and most of the characters still feel like clay because there’s 0 depth to them.

i totally disagree with you. i finished watching it and to me it was perfect all the main characters actings were good visuals were good too and i think changes made in way of storytelling was not bothering at all it doesn't break the flow neither seems unnatural. i recommend you to finish watching it.

I think people are being too harsh on the adaptation. If you want a 1:1 adaptation, watch the animated series. One piece completely changed the Kuro captain storyline and how it played out, but nobody complained because it was still good and made sense. Disclaimer - I'm a mega fan, gone to cons for avatar specifically before and named my pets after characters in the show. But, the plot changes they made (the ideas) made sense and I liked them if they executed it right. I felt like they edited scenes in the wrong order, had the wrong character say the show lines, or mischaracterized character motivations. Katara was very watered down, meanwhile aang was not funny and a kid and sokka was too serious. I get the tone they were going for, but they forgot these are just kids who are still learning their place in the world. I contrast this to the one piece adaptation where the goofy and fun parts come out, and then luffy gets serious af when it matters (nami arlong) I thought they almost got the spirit world right, and I would accept the changes but the aang actually went to the fire nation, and to Koh and its like they completely forgot about Heibei. I would say...the ideas were absolutely all there and the show had very clear moments when things were perfect (most of which were in the second half of the show when I think all the actors got significantly stronger after episode 5/6, especially Zuko) - but the script writing and editing either skipped motivations, downplayed them or just played things out of order (like the genocide needed to be shown later after aang finally accepts he is the last Airbender). He accepted this WAY too quickly

Some people love the series me naw all did rewatch the old series. Creators left kinda red flag still wanted see despite know left Netflix over creative differences. Creators show is remix of original show. Netflix did well get season 2 generated enough money. I will not be watching it.
