I loved the movie, which I've seen just hours ago. I completely emerged into the movie and it really didn't feel like 3 hours. Absolutely loved it and I had my jaw drop a couple of times. I spotted most of the "missed" things while watching it for the first time (a couple of hours ago, in IMAX 3D). I rate this movie a 10/10. I'm in love with Pandora and all the creatures that live there.

Not all of Jake's kids have 5 fingers. Only 1 of the 3 bio kids have 5 fingers: Lo'ak. Tuk and Neteyam have 4 and no eyebrows. Kiri is Grace's bio kid and she has 5 fingers & eyebrows like Lo'ak

I loved Avatar: The Way of Water. I can't recommend it highly enough. This video highlights a lot of the things that make the Avatar universe unique and immersive. Netayam actually had the traditional 3 Na’vi fingers, probably because he was the firstborn. He also had the traditional Na’vi toes. But Kiri did take after Grace with her digits.

Amrita is called Amrutha in Sanskrit and according to Hindu mythology lot of Gods drank it to become immortal. There an amazing story about how it came into existence it's called Samudra Manthan(churning of the ocean). When the gods and demons fought for it finnally gods won the battle cause lord Shiva drank the poison which came along with Amrutha. In the story Amrutha actually comes from ocean only.

His story arc is getting SO interesting now. I'm very excited to see what they do with him, because he's already doing things that the human Quaritch would never do. He took pity on his son and saved the lives of innocent villagers because he was affected by his son's emotional pleading and begging. Human Quaritch never let himself become affected by pleading and begging (but then again, he didn't have a son in the first film). The end was a huge indicator that Avatar Quaritch will eventually delineate from the human Quaritch's expectations for him and instead prioritize his son. He let go of Kiri because he saw that Neytiri had a knife to Spider's neck. He pretended to not care, but when tensions got high, he quickly let go of Kiri and saved Spider's life. Spider, in turn, decided to save his life. That's where we see a big change for Quaritch. Now that he has a son that he cares for, we see cracks in his armor, a weakness that he didn't have before. He's not just a tough soldier, willing to follow orders at the cost of others' lives. Now he has a son, someone he cares for. He'll still pursue revenge against Jake, but now there's a conflicting part of him that wants to protect Spider.

❗️❗️❗️ my boyfriend mentioned this while we were watching this the other day ❕ the scene where Dr Ian Garvin (the guy that shoots the tulkan) on the harpoon gun in Japanese it says “made in Japan” (throwing shade at Japan for the Taiji dolphin drive hunt which is still a very much occurring hunt every year the Japanese do) - in saying this if you haven’t watched The Cove it’s a really Insightful documentary explaining this but it is very raw and disturbing. Just wanted to note this because I haven’t seen anyone talk about it ‼️‼️‼️

You seem to have missed the part where they went and got the tribes from the horse clans and the water clans in the first movie in order to fight off the sky people. They said of many other clans too but these are the only two mentioned.

Great review. We drove 1 hr to town 3 Sundays in a row, until there was a showing with good seats, that was not too full. At about the 2 hr 45 min mark (spoiler: where Jake fights the bad guy 1-on-1, starting the finale fights) the lady in front of me started playing videos on her phone. My left eye kept going to the light of her phone & it was hard to focus on the 3-d movie. At the credits I told my wife that I was going to beat on that lady's chair with my cane & scream Get Out, but she said that she had not noticed.

The sea people are also a bit taller in general, and they seem to have eyes like sharks - with a nictitating membrane under their main eyelid to protect their eyes. There is a flash of this in the scene we are first introduced to the daughter of the leader, as she steps out of the water.

At first I was a little concerned with the length on it and wasn't sure I'd be able to stay awake for the entire film. I was pleasantly surprised to find that just like the first film I was sucked in from the get go and my attention firmly placed throughout the entire film. I am usually very weary of sequels as its not always possible to do the original film and the storyline overall the justice it deserves. However, the trailer for me was a dead give away that once again we had been graced with more of James Cameron's brilliance. Not to mention the entire team and cast that worked on this film plus the original too. I loved practically every aspect of both films. Although the entire landscape practically of Pandora is most likely CGI. It is absolutely stunning. Leaving the films feel exactly like a window to another world essentially. The storyline is fantastic despite one that's more or less been used before. In the sense of humans doing what they do best and basically destroying things in the name of survival. That aspect of the storyline as with many other films with a similar one. Well it doesn't really make me overly thrilled to be human. Even though I could never try to destroy another civilisations home world or drive people or animals native to that world out so myself and my fellow humans can move in. Yeah could never do that personally but yeah that aspect does leave a bitter taste in my mouth as do similar storylines in other movies etc. Always does. As it is an unfortunate and well bitter truth. There are a good chunk of human beings unfortunately who would be presented with something like this and would commit atrocities to reach their goal. Rather than seeing the beauty in a place like Pandora. Having the urge instead to want to bulldoze over it all and make it habitable for humans. Unfortunately that is typically what humans are well known for. Heck we do it enough to our own planet. Even going as far to stoop as low as to drive out other human beings native to a place. Just so that portion of the human race can have that location. If films like Avatar are to be taken seriously & emit any form of well placed foreshadowing. Then it's likely the human race as a whole collectively will never learn from their actions. More likely doomed to make the same mistakes and commit the same atrocities. The fact that the colonel ends up in the second as the very thing he hated most in the 1st film is no surprise to me. He seemed like a slippery b*stard. The fact a plan was formulated for his memories and personality to be transferred to his own DNA grown avatar just seemed so on point. At the point it became clear that he was technically back and how. He and the other insane humans reminded me of a dog with a bone. There was no way they'd go home and forget about Pandora completely. As with the 1st one the emotion, the landscape, the natives as well as the animals of Pandora. Pulled me in and wrapped me up in it. Top notch if you ask me. Fantastic job all round for everyone involved if you ask me.

I kinda always thought of Jake as a Jesus figure in the first one. He comes down from the Sky People, becomes a Na’vi, and saves them. It’s almost further emphasized when Quaritch calls himself “papa dragon”. The devil is symbolized by a dragon in scripture.

Only in Revelation, which is not to be taken literally lol. Lots of things in Revelation are visions shown to John that were well beyond human comprehension, so he tried to write down the things he saw in a way that people might understand. Even then, it's hard to say that he wrote down what he literally saw or what images were evoked when he saw what he saw.
