I love Presonus! (brand new 32SC) I just mixed a 16 piece big band and a seperate band for a total of 26 musicians (9 vocalists) at the Ray Dolby Ballroom in Hollywood Thursday night with 700 patrons! Used two of the stage boxes and 31 of the 32 channels. Amazing thing beyond that, is I used the same mixer the morning of and the following morning at business sessions at the Lowes Hollywood. Set a scene and was ready to go. Had 3 hours to move from one ballroom for business session, to the Ray Dolby for the gala, I dialed in all the channels presets the night before for the Ray Dolby scene. I own the legacy 16.4.2, 24.4.2 and the 16.0.2. I knew this gig was going to take more than the 24 could bring so I dove into the new technology Presonus is putting out and it is so amazing and flexible! THANK YOU PRESONUS!

Thanks John great presentation!!! PreSonus has really set their game up. For the all of us in the audio community, an efficient workflow is key. Me being a journeyman audio guy I've worked on all types of gigs and consoles and usually by myself. Film, TV, radio, studio, venue I've done it. The new gear from Presonus has really made my job a lot easier. My favorite is the "SL 24". I've installed about 5 of theses is houses of worship and the members who operate the "SL24" love it. I'm in the process of purchasing my own along with a few Earmixes as my gear needs a major upgrade as my current gear is starting to fell like the Titanic.

This seems like a great solution. Though I must say with a VERY expensive Mogami cable based massive multi room studio with TT patch bays we have not had one bad solder point in over 2-1/2 decades of daily use. Sure analog switches and knobs get replaced on vintage class A electronic gear, but with a properly wired and professionally installed patch bay system no time has been lost in repairs. However, this AVB seems like one solution to audio over the network for Live set ups and studio as well.

What we really need is AVB over WiFi so that we can use smartphones and tablets for monitoring. They could even release wireless EarMix with Bluetooth for wireless headphones, earphones and speakers. Check out what Audiofusion is upto with their proprietary solution.

An audio signal travelling over a Bluetooth connection would have a delay of up to 0.5 sec, which would make it almost impossible to play along with a monitor mix. That's just the nature of the Bluetooth A2PD protocol. Audiofusion over wifi is definitely faster than Bluetooth, but nowhere near AVB, which is 2ms. With Audiofusion, PC latency is 3ms, wireless latency is 3-8ms, smartphone latency is 2ms for a minimum combined latency of 8ms-13ms. A drummer would go out of his mind. But the concept is exciting and I assume performance will improve as hardware improves. I haven't tested it yet, but hope to do so soon. Thank you for commenting.

Tendy Media supposing there was no need for the PC connection to broadcast audio signals via the WiFi network? What if the router could broadcast AVB streams via WiFi and the smartphones could receive these signals and play them back. You don’t have to use Bluetooth earphones just plug directly to the smartphone if it still has a headphone port. Although I need to check what the audio latency with Bluetooth 5.0 is. Audiofusion have already answered the question of what is possible. Presonus are at a position to offer a better solution since they make majority the hardware and software needed in the ecosystem.

Enoch Gitonga I don’t disagree with you, that is some interesting and exciting technology. I honestly don’t know enough about it other than what I have read and I haven’t tested it hands on. I will tell you that a wired system is much more reliable, I have worked with Wi-Fi and Bluetooth controlled monitoring as with the older studio live series. On a large stage, radio frequencies disconnect and between walls in a recording studio it’s even less reliable. Great comments, I appreciate your participation. Thank you :)

Look up “Audio Fusion,” the gent named Brandon presents something new and innovative in the wireless in ear monitoring world! The concept is the same as having the presonus earmix however it’s an app on your iPhone and the hub to control everything is software based. It’s a super cheap compared to the hardware solutions that cost about $1,200 bucks for a decent wireless in ear monitor. Check it out!

Since the StudioLive Consoles have AVB it would be neat to not have to send the audio to a tethered computer to process the audio and make it available to the network. If one can send and receive AVB streams via WiFi it cuts the process audio has to pass through to reach to musicians in-ears

No, Behringer uses Ultranet and is proprietary to that system. Both communicate over Cat6, but AVB will support other hardware as it develops. That is a great idea, but to the best of my knowledge it does not exist yet. AVB sends streams of data to compliant devices, so you'd so need hardware to switch data streams to their proper recipient. Thank you for commenting!

@@thatjazzshow AVB does work over standard Ethernet and IP with a few extensions. All currently sold Apple computers support using AVB directly via the device's or an external thunderbolt Ethernet port, and I'm aware there's some amount of support for Linux and potentially a bit for Windows as well.

I don't know of tho So there is an extra expense.se units have been tested in-house, so I can't say for sure. But AVB-equipped Netgear devices require a license to enable AVB. Couldn't you just use the Earmix16 as your main interface at your control room hooked into your monitors? Just have a Studiolive 16-32 interface somewhere in the live room. Then you can control everything from anywhere you have a computer and Earmix16 connected to AVB

Hi there, maybe you can give me a hint how to overcome the following challenge. I try to find a thunderbolt to Ethernet adapter for a MacBook Pro 2021 M1 which supports AVB. I tested several adapters, none of them worked so far. I‘m using a Presonus Studilive III 24R. Thanks

They're all pretty much the same. I have an older USB A version from StarTech which plugs into my USB hub. My mobile setup is similar to what you have, . MBP M1, SL24R. Works fine. Maybe your problem is a system setting.

@@Gradientetecnology I never used that unit, so I don't know much about it. Pretty sure Presonus discontinued it. I would check Universal Control version and see if the most recent is compatible. You can try installing an older version of UC.
