The acoustics in this room is perfect for a song like this. This performance goes beyond being a performance. It is a moving experience for the audience as well as the performers. Performers get immense joy when you are part of an experience like this. Absolutely stunning. 👍👍👍👍👍👍

I first heard this setting sung by Cantus and it's been my favorite choral setting ever since. I've never before heard Ringmasters, but of course I'm familiar with Voces8. This performance is achingly lovely. Thanks for posting it!

I simply can't imagine this being performed any better than this. Absolute perfection.

This is my favorite setting of the "Ave Maria" text, and this is now my favorite performance. Thank you, Richard, for facilitating this, and Jeff for the reaction.

Voces8 are just angelic voices. YT often routes me to acapella music, and these folks are on my frequent play list. Another acapella group with ethereal sound is The Kings Singers. These groups sound even better in a chapel or environment with hard surfaces to the natural reverb effect. Thanks for featuring the. It's a balm for the soul.

I fell in love with this work hearing the stunning Chanticleer version and I didn't imagine at the time I'd hear a better version. This one certainly is a worthy rival.

The room is the fifteenth performer, I would so like to have been in that room when this was recorded. Emotion overload.

It seems that about 20% are not musically empathic, So are not moved in that way. I'm not one, thank goodness.

This isn't "my kind of music", but it really grabbed my attention because it's so compelling and so beautifully performed.

I have heard this piece performed by many groups, with many voicing variations, to include brass band, but I believe this is my new favorite. The perfect performance, pitch, dynamics, even timbre, all contribute toward making this my favorite. Even the room acoustics play a roll! But the question remains, who took a piece written for male double chorus, and arranged it for a mixed chorus with the treble accenting the sections of the piece, over the male voices that play a dominant role? I think that arranging genius is Blake Morgan, but I haven't found that information anywhere. What say you Jeff? Has anyone found out this information? I discovered Voces 8 through an earlier version, recorded in 2017. It was shorter, not doing all the verses, but I loved it then, and still do. However, this new version, with 14 singers, and being more complete, has stolen my heart. On another subject, the new soprano, not singing in this video, is Eleonora Poignant, from Sweden.

I agree ...! Great analysis, thank you. This is one of my most highly preferred settings of the Ave Maria, and yes, the human voice does not get any better than with Voces8 and Ringmasters. Chanticleer also live for this piece. Another superb Ave Maria is by Gomez, and this arrangement is brilliant: kzbin.info/www/bejne/lZSWd3doZdh8bZY And of course ...!!! kzbin.info/www/bejne/r6Gwp5KsgNl6q80

Thanks for showing us this. IMO the Biebl setting is one of the best, on par with Schubert and Bach/Gounod (and surprisingly unknown). I was fortunate enough to have sung this in choir years ago in school.
