Vespers in Arundel Roman Catholic Cathedral, 25 July 1973:
(From a Live BBC broadcast of Choral Vespers for the Feast of St James sung by the choir in the Cathedral of Our Lady and St Philip, Arundel. Officially Elgar’s Op. 2, No. 1, this piece was written in 1887, while Elgar was organist at St George's Church in Worcester, as a setting of the “Pie Jesu” in memory of William Allen, the Worcester attorney for whom Elgar worked as a fifteen-year old. Elgar revised and orchestrated it for publication as “Ave verum corpus” in 1902)
Ave, verum corpus natum ex Maria Virgine,
Vere passum, immolatum in cruce pro homine,
Cuius latus perforatum vero fluxit sanguine,
Esto nobis praegustatum, mortis in examine.
O clemens, O pie, O dulcis Jesu, fili Mariae.
[ Hail, true Body, born of the Virgin Mary,
Having truly suffered, sacrificed on the cross for mankind,
From whose pierced side water and blood flowed:
Be for us a foretaste in the trial of death!

I agree with you... it is the same in Italy, but i hope something is going to change: for example I am a member of a Liturgic Choir (Catholic Church) that only sing Gregorian or Polifonic musics... or at least high-quality modern liturgic music. And peeople - at the holy mass - appreciate, I know!! 《LA BELLEZZA SALVERÀ IL MONDO》.

There is a foundation stone at Guilford Cathedral with my late father's name on it. My paternal grandparents lived in Onslow Village..
