Aveda | Eclipting Hair Color Tutorial to Create Completely Different Styles

To begin, section the hair into in a circular shape around the point of distribution, separate the fringe in the front, and the rest of the hair into quadrants. Start at the bottom section of the hair and work your way up, applying the first formula. On the bangs section, add the darkest formula. To the same section make smaller sections, then apply the enlightener hair color formula. Blend the two formulas by twisting the hair strands with your fingers to create the essential look to the eclipting technique. Leave the formula in the hair for 20 minutes then rinse, add toner, and dry the hair to see the final result. As the eclipting style transitions hair from darker to lighter, play around with the style and create many different variations. Introduce color and give your guests a completely new look with Eclipting Hair Color.

I not loving this a bit brassy and choppy but I did learn a few techniques. The only thing I’m not loving is that it’s not blended well I would have added a few lighter strand in the top with a brush to have everything flow better

I think I'd prefer to leave the crown portions out of it. Looks too choppy and unkept. Peek-a-Boo technique might be better suited for this hair legnth.
