Clearly you all are braver or better than I am. Getting the motor out was easy. Getting it in vexed me. Don't be afraid to remove the glovebox. It took me all of 10 minutes (and low stress) to remove the glove box and that gave the ducting some room to move out of the way. Fan popped in and there was much more visibility and room to maneuver.

Thanks for the video. Mine was chirping like a bird until it stopped completely. Removed, hooked up directly to 12v and blower started to spin. Cleaned and greased up with bearing oil. Installed back and now it runs again. Yaay!

Praise the LORD this KZbin video is so helpful I was quoted 3hours labor and $300 for a part but took me a while to get the old part out about an hour, lots of prayer and perseverance it was quite jammed. Got the replacement from eBay $120 and took 20 mins to put back in and the aircon works better than before! My kids will be pleasantly surprised mummy fixed the aircon so we are not freezing on the way to school with the aircon working now! Thank you for this fantastic video

I did this on my wife's 2007 328Ci after watching your video and it worked perfectly! You mention the spot where a screw could go and mentioned that most cars don't have a screw there. I figured out what that is for. When you accidentally break off the motor retaining tab, you can re-install the motor and secure it with a screw through that extra hole in lieu of the broken retaining tab. it has a place in the housing for the screw to bite.

Thank you for this video! I had my motor out in a couple of minutes, lubed, cleaned and re-installed. Mine died completely, but the lube and working it in brought it back to life. Saved me a $200 blower motor (for now) and a few hours labor costs! I will add, the longest part, was trying to find that clip! Mine was really hidden by wires.

I bought a valeo blower the exact one I took out for 85 bucks .. and did it myself in under 25mins .. getting it back in was harder than I thought but once you get the flash light in the right spot .. you can see what your doing .. thanks once again!

My sons e90 blower motor finally died. It made the whining sound for a while and finally it cracked and started to wobble and grind today. I used your video and it was done on less that 30min. Saved me a lot of time and he's back on the road with a new silent heater. Thanks for the video.

I was just going to replace the resistor pack but it looked easier to pull the fan per your instructions and check the bearings at the same time. The motor was stuck as well so I lubed the bearings as well. Replaced the resistor pack and reinstalled. All well in the 2008 BMW 328i world. Thank you!!!!!!

This video is straight to the point! Looks like this is a common problem with E90 series. I just started having the same annoying squeaking noise issue with this blower on my E90 and fixed it today thanks to this easy video tutorial. I actualy had that screw that you mentioned in the video that can additionally hold on the whole blower into place, but it was not too hard to remove it. Also, in my case, removing the large upper plastic cover from the blower motor was not as easy as seen on this video, but with some careful effort I managed to take it off. Thanks a lot for sharing this handy video tuturial and saving us some money!

Just had this exact problem, fans suddenly stopped pumping air. They were making a weird noise the a day or two prior, screeching, wining. All the controls were working, so I checked the fuses. All good. Thought I’d go in and try removing the fan unit, as you made it actually look very easy. Before I did that I had bought I’d go under the bonnet and just make sure the cabin filters weren’t clogged. Noticed I could access the fan main shaft from under the bonnet, so using a similar lubricant to yourself, filled a long hollow piece of plastic pipe with blaster. Got it in and let it run down the shaft into the bearings. Worked the fan a few cycles with the same piece of plastic tube. And it seemed to free up. Started the car back up and air is blowing and all seems well short term.👍🏻

And did it myself as you showed. Guess what my A/C is running! Thanks for the video. thanks for this video - used it to solve same issue with my cabin fan - squeaky. I would say though that here in UK, being a RHD car, the fan was awkward to take out - your video was spot on - but removing the fan is a little tougher as there are some things in the way (i think its a supporting bracket for the passenger footwell cover). there are 2 Philips screws holding it in place, take one out, loosen the other so you have a lot of play, THEN you can get at the fan. I would also recommend (but be careful!) powering up the fan BEFORE refitting it to make sure your re-lubrication has worked. Aside from that - video was right on the money - thanks! (my experience was this was 60-90min job - removal - WD40 - test - refit and replace cover)

Thanks for this video. It gave me the confidence to do this. It only took about 5 or 10 minutes. I have a 2008 BMW 335i, 106k Miles. The squeak at low fan speed was bugging me for a few months and then I saw your video. I ordered a new fan off Amazon for about $40 and installed it just a moment ago. Squeekless again! My wife thanks you too as it was driving her crazy as well. Now if I could just work up the guts to replace the oil pan & gasket to get rid of that leak... I bought a Quickjack on-sale at Costco ($999 delivered) to help me do that. I hope to drive this car to 250k miles.

perfect video! I had no fan working prior to removal. Took me about five minutes to remove on 2009 128i. Once the motor was out, I reconnected the wiring harness and the motor stuttered. Taking my time I had the whole job done in ten minutes. Getting the new blower in was trickier then getting the old one out. The tab you lift actually aligns with a "stop" which then aligns the blower so it can go in. Then turn counter clockwise to click in. Easy peasy... Great video btw. A buddy of mine just got ripped off by a shop that charged him an hour to install.

Rust on the bearings were exactly like yours and slow to spin by hand. Using your video and the wifey help its was lubed (PB blaster lubricant)up properly lol. Note my power harness was replaced from the recall so the red power connector was difficult to remove until bringing down the blower unit. Thanks again.

Thanks for the video, I had a squeaky BMW e90 2011 335d with the same issue, I pulled out the blower motor quickly per your instructions, cleaned it up (lot of gunk on it), and used some motor bearing oil to lubricate the top and bottom around the bearing housing. I didn't expect much as the hand rotation didn't feel much better, but an initial test drive, trying the blower on various speeds results in whisper quiet operation. Perfect! Don't have to buy a new motor for now.

Thank you for this! I bought a new blower motor as mine went out last week unfortunately. I was thinking it was gonna be a pain to get to. A lot easier then I thought!😁🤙

Removing was relatively easy, putting it back though... A thick wire harness gets in the way from one side (not 100% if it hasn't been moved/shifted - previous owner spliced it to install power supply for a dash cam) and that air duct (visible in this video) from another. Ended up wigling out the air duct. Putting blower after that was trivial, but then spent like 5 minutes trying to wiggle that air duct back in.

wd40 ist great for cleaning purpose but most people do not know that it has only very limited lubrication characteristics over time, read the notes on the can
