As someone that’s listened to avenged from 9 years old til now at 29 my music has gotten heavier and heavier but this album. This album is a masterpiece. Avenged has gone thru so many different styles but one thing remains the same. Avenged is one of the greatest bands of my generation. This album might be the best album I’ve heard.

A7X listener since 2005 (when city of evil came out) when I was blown away with M.I.A., then I discovered Waking the fallen, which became my fav; loved every second of the self titled, got hit by the emotional rollercoaster that Nightmare is, for obvious reasons, lost interest after HTTK, didn’t pay much attention to The Stage (which only lately I found to be quite great!) but I think this album is a breath of fresh air, one of the most creative and original piece of music I’ve ever heard and I can’t stop listening to it since it came out!!

Yeah. This album's philosophical underpinnings and your comment bring this to mind: “For years I’ve wanted to live according to everyone else’s morals. I’ve forced myself to live like everyone else, to look like everyone else. I said what was necessary to join together, even when I felt separate. And after all of this, catastrophe came. Now I wander amid the debris, I am lawless, torn to pieces, alone and accepting to be so, resigned to my singularity and to my infirmities. And I must rebuild a truth-after having lived all my life in a sort of lie.” -Camus

The lyrics in the first verse feel like the most relatable writing A7X have ever put out, at least for me. Succinctly captures dealing with depression: highs and lows; getting a moment to collect oneself and yell at reality for dealing you this hand; feeling like every bad thing that happens is specifically happening to you and you alone; and feeling like this is simply what you're bound for until your time's up. And then the second verse gives you the much-needed salve: a promise that the bad days come and go, as do the good days, as does everything. So just walk away, and keep on walking. And of course that all ties in to what the band has said is some heavy influence from the works of Albert Camus. As that Frenchman put it, "one must imagine Sisyphus happy."
