I recommend Strength of The World (from the same album as M.I.A). Its just as wacky and experimental as M.I.A if not more.

It's pretty much impossible to go wrong with A7X. You are right, everybody recommends their popular songs (singles). While they are all great, I prefer the deeper cuts. Songs that are "not-so-popular" that I would totally recommend are: Victim (super underrated and probably in their top 5 best), Coming Home (gets little to no attention compared to the three singles of that album), Betrayed (about the murder of Dimebag Darrell), and Save me (my personal favorite, very progressive).

Singles are the ones that sound similar, in my opinion. The deep cuts are the ones that really stand out. They're always extremely creative and very easy to pick out from the lot. It's great listening to the whole albums because most songs do surpass the singles in ways.

Dude, no. The song is about a soldier that had to commit so many atrocities to win a war. He had to kill children in front of their mothers and kill so many people in order to survive and win the war. And he is hoping that all the killing he is asked to do is for the right reasons and that he hopes that God forgives him for what he had to do. And now that the war is over, he recognizes that his soul has been lost - hence the title MIA. He feels like he is a murderer and prays for forgiveness.

Small note: that this song came out in '05 when the US had been entrenched in Iraq for a while with no end in sight, and much of the US was terribly disillusioned. The band has Always been hugely supportive of the troops-not of war, but of the men and women that fight. Suggestions for less "trendy" or radio friendly songs by the band: A Little Piece of Heaven: if you're feeling particularly adventurous-it's a fairly gruesome Halloween story. It's uh. Different, and a cult fan favourite 😂 Save Me: Long, more proggy, epic. Requiem: Gothic as hell. Dear God: ...if you like country.

Gotta do Strength of the World. It's gorgeous. Also, if you dig long songs with a lot of transitions, check out Teenage Wildlife by David Bowie. It was just his birthday on January 8th, and the day he died 5 years ago is January 10th. It's a quality track, and getting into Bowie would give you a lot of great music to get into.
