This video is an homage to James "The Rev" Sullivan, the drummer for Avenged Sevenfold that passed away during the recording of the album this song was on, with references to some of his parts from other music videos and the video itself being inspired by the movie Jacob's Ladder, one of The Rev's favourite movies, and features the last drumkit he'd toured with at the end.

I was searching in the comments section to make sure at least one person knew...Billy asking if it was an insane asylum made me on the edge of tears as that was rev's life in a nutshell...

@xerodelacroix55525 жыл бұрын
This song isn't literally about evil, it's about mental health "professionals". The video is based on the movie Jacob's Ladder, which was The Rev's favorite movie. This was their first video after he died, hence the broken drum kits with his pet tarantula crawling on them and his final kit in the room at the end.

The reason why you see the empty drum kit at the end was cuz The Rev had died & they were having a moment of silence for him. Mike Portnoy of Dream Theater fame played the drums in the song & he killed it
@danwest99004 жыл бұрын
Sounds like the drummer is ripping some triplet patterns on the kick-drum! That and more - excellent tom and double kick-drum patterns - so tight! The whole band shreds - they seem like a kind of punk rock version of Iron Maiden to me with the epic solos and the powerful, anthem heavy lead vocals. Love these guys!

Everything in this video is about the Rev. You got the drums laying in the room, the spiders that crawled on the Rev's face in afterlife, the dancing with the skeleton and then the empty drums at the end shows its their nightmare that the Rev is gone. He died before this album was finished. The Rev recorded demos for most of these songs but died before the final recordings.
