I did the same with my best friend Luke our mini schnauzer, the most gentle and special dog I ever met.. I’m sad that his blanket stopped smelling like him.. It’s been 3-4 years and I still think about him a lot. It was the saddest death of any I’ve experienced, human or animal. The only good thing is I have so many amazing memories with him, and I captured a lot on video. But that doesn’t hold a candle to him coming up to my room for comfort and snuggling in bed with me until he’s leaned tight up against me to share body warmth.
