This song was my late wife's favorite song by Floyd. She loved A7F and introduced me to them. This was published after she died and it hit me so hard when I just now heard this randomly on youtube. She used to play So Far Away all the time, ironically it is now a song I play to mourn her. Thank Avenged Seven Fold for this cover, it means more to me than you can imagine.

Me and my Dad never talked around much. He was more into teaching me the values and purpose on how to live my life and be a pillar to the family. Back then I didn't know that he had brain tumour. It was only during the last stages of his life after the chemo that I discovered and he didn't want me to be sad either by his situation. This song is a connection of two lives without words but by a stronger bond of understanding. Its been 9 years now ever since he passed away. And this song is something that reminds me of the good old days that I spent with my dad. He was my Hero after all. RIP Dad. You were a good man. I hope I grow up to be the man you wanted me to be

I can relate... My dad was 3b lung cancer.. We kinda thought or knew he was sick or something.. He was losing weight, going home early from work, and then had a respitory infection that wouldnt go away.. He was addicted to pain pills at the time.. Anyway, I think he knew he was sick but didnt want to hear it from drs.. Well he did eventually.. And no longer than a week of knowing, he was taking his last breaths of life surrounded by family, and some good fire house buddies of his.... Never gets easier.. The only thing thats gets easier is remembering they aren't here... I still reach for my phone to tell him something funny.. but opps

Your performance respects the original, and hits even harder in the sad places. I remembered my friend who I lost in the war, who I wish was here with us, and would have heard this performance.. Obviously you could never beat David Gilmour's own version of the song, but I'd argue that covers are never made to try and outperform an original version. Personally I think it's great that A7X are releasing new content between their albums instead of going silent for 2-3 years. Plus, the changes in genre just show how versatile they are as a band.

Tomas Garces Chaparro Simple. The original can be heard at least once a day on any classic rock station and it’s far superior to this. This cover isn’t about “inviting new generations” to the music of Pink Floyd; it’s called a “cash grab”.

+Jason Tanner xD, you can hate as much as you want, i'm telling you what the band said, and what any real fan knows about this band is that they never forget their roots, they are always giving like "shout out" to other bands. This is a beautiful piece of art, a really well done cover with many cool images of their last tour with Metallica, and I had to pay nothing to watch it over and over again, for me it's something to be thankful of.

Great job, Avenged! This shows how much musical diversity you have, that you don't just make rock and heavy metal songs and try to cover as many different styles and instruments in your songs and, honestly, that's what makes me a fan and accompany you more and more! Keep it up !!

a7x was the future of metal durning the 2000s now, they are the present, one of the very few good metal/rock bands that keep the genre alive in a good way, they are the present of metal and future legends, i know that the hardcore metalheads are gonna argue on this with their guturals and shit...sorry but that is the thing that keeps the genre under the ground, bands like a7x are what is needed not fast shit on guitar with all the gain and guturals everywhere

I heard this song while 1300 miles away from my family. I was lucky enough to use that time to make the changes I needed to finally get them back and earn their trust back. I move back in next month with my wife and daughters after 4 years of being removed. Thank you guys. One of the best covers ever.

Splod ™ if you mean close as in resemblance to the original, then you should remember it's a cover. they're supposed to make it their own ;) on the other hand, if you mean close as in quality, then i respect your opinion and i won't say much about it, considering i'm not that big on pink floyd xD but in the end, it's a good song

Wishmaster wtf are you talking about Pink floyd wrote this, of course they played it best.. no contest but I appreciate A7X for being themselves without trying to immitate Pink floyd style
@wishmaster81987 жыл бұрын
rob140892 What? Thats exactly what I said xD Btw, for being the song owner doesn't mean he/they play the song better, for example, a shitty singer can write a shitty song and other musician can turn it into a beautiful song. But in that case there's no chance anyone could do better than Pink Floyd on their songs.

Usually dubious of these kinds of covers as more often than not they're awful. But THIS is a real cover! They kept to the spirit of the original but left their signature on it. Exactly how a cover should be done.

"Wish You Were Here" lyrics Pink Floyd Lyrics "Wish You Were Here" So, so you think you can tell Heaven from Hell, blue skies from pain. Can you tell a green field from a cold steel rail? A smile from a veil? Do you think you can tell? Did they get you to trade your heroes for ghosts? Hot ashes for trees? Hot air for a cool breeze? Cold comfort for change? Did you exchange a walk on part in the war for a lead role in a cage? How I wish, how I wish you were here. We're just two lost souls swimming in a fish bowl, year after year, Running over the same old ground. What have we found? The same old fears. Wish you were here.
