Brooks has Brooks style and to be fair all respect to the Rev aside he's an infinitely better drummer than the Rev was. The only thing really that Brooks and the Rev have in common is that they were members of Avenged Sevenfold.. PS. I need to reiterate that I am not bashing the Rev as he was a good drummer, but Brooks Wackerman is a hell of a lot better.
@SefniVinalonn7 жыл бұрын
Seriously one of the best bands of this generation. If any elitist has anything to bad to say about them, you show them this video. These guys are passionate, talented, and have carried the torch for legitimately good metal over the past 15 years. Not many bands these days have a vocalist this talented, and a lead guitar player who can incorporate as much melody and technicality as Syn. I used to be one of those elitests a long time ago when I was first getting into metal and listened to nothing but Thrash. Good thing we all grow up and evolve.
@frederikvanaverbeke88407 жыл бұрын
Don't forget that monster-drummer Brooks Wackerman... He lifts it all up a couple of notches too. I love how they have evolved from a screaming punk-band into this kind of sophisticated musical beacon. I am not afraid to state that they are on their way to true greatness next to bands like Queen & (early) Metallica. A pity though that very few radio-stations or other channels pay attention to metal these days.
@kevinw86885 жыл бұрын
I grew up on thrash and the very first time i heard this band I was into them. NEVER wavered. Lots of people bashed them (for what reason I have no idea), I am guessing they got ripped because they got successful and were not screaming about eating babies or whatever. I think this is quite possibly the finest heavy metal band of the 21st century.
@matheus.bueno475 жыл бұрын
People that say that don't actually listen to Avenged Sevenfold. They are just corroborating the stereotype. Buried Alive is pure metal, most people that like Metallica, Black Sabath and such would like that song, for example.

This song vocally is insane. I don’t see him being able to perform it this well into his 40s unless he really takes care of himself. Side note I think more hard rock bands should retire completely when they’re talent or songwriting begins to slip like atheletes. rather than putting out sub par crap in their middle age tarnishing their legacy. This is why I pray system (my favorite) doesn’t put out another record. They’re catalog is flawless. Learn to save you’re money and invest bitches so you don’t have to destroy you’re value with mediocre crap like Korn (also love them). Metallica may be the exception to the rule.

Matt is an amazing vocalist and the rest of the band are amazing as well. I love Avenged. They've gotten me through a lot of hard times.
@HarrisonBowman4 жыл бұрын
Agreed, and the false chords technique he uses to hit the higher notes is nothing to be scoffed at, it's incredibly difficult to train your voice to do that as well as incorporating your normal singing voice right after too.
@yeller39563 жыл бұрын
Another thing to point out would the mouth shapes of his singing now as opposed to how it was in the days of COE. His nasally voice combined with how he pronounced certain words made him sound whiny and thinned out his tone. Now he’s using more open mouth shapes instead of using syllables that pushes his voice through his nose. Man he sounds awesome on the stage.

One of my favorite things about their performances as of late is how Syn is programming some of the lesser "important" harmonies into his signal chain, so like when they play the chorus in this song, Zacky can still keep the rhythm going, keeping the fullness of the song intact, but then for the big harmonies in the solos they switch to their normal duels. Its those little things that contribute to an amazing live performance. They really leave no stone unturned.

The new album surpassed all my expectations!! Synyster gates really showcased his guitar work, the drum fills are impeccable, and M. Shadows really brought it!! Fermi Paradox is my favorite off the album along with Roman Sky. I had to look up the Fermi Paradox.... mindfucked!!

Syn just makes that guitar sing, man. This song is perfect from start to finish. An audible painting. This might be my favorite solo of his. Just when you think he’s done, that pace change, subtly coming in on those clean chords. Just fuckin’ cherry, dude. Dude is a classy fuckin’ guitar player.

The fact that the song is about the evolution of greed and corruption of the human race, better seen in the music video, yeah this is the PERFECT place. They've all changed soo much since The Rev died and the fact they're still producing great music is awesome. I've been a fan for a long time since before they were signed with Hopeless Records, I still have a few demo CD's I got from a few of their local gigs and Warped Tour and I still listen to them, it's sad to see a new drummer BUT I like this one better then the amature that did Hail To The King. Basic beats that were probably done by computer and sloppy timing all on the percussion side, I've been a drummer for 14 years and I've heard better drumming from a hurricane and yes I have heard his other bands crap I'm still not impressed (things everyone tries to defend him with). I'm glad ajlay however you spell his name is out of the band they can finally get back to good music with a slight technical style on drums that suits Syn Gates' playing and Shadows voice. Now I'm watching the video again JUST to geek out over that beautiful drum kit, a simple double bass kit is awesome but add those Deathbats...it's sex.

Jimmy Blues plus the rev was a key part in the general creative process. But you're drummer, ever listened to Gojira?
@6661islife8 жыл бұрын
All of them came together in the creative process the fact that Rev had better stuff is another story, better details in I think the 1st DVD Diamonds In The Rough and the Self Titled albums digital copy had a bunch of good behind the scenes stuff. The point is they all came together and picked and chose the style they wanted as a band.

We knew back then where the music was going. I'd say this was a very changing tale of when men refine themselves and venture to embody what it means to pursue greatness in the face of adversity!! I'm thankful for the music over the years and the critics crumble to dust!😊
