Age of Ultron is one of the MCU films that gets better with time after you’ve seen some of the movies that come later. So many storylines start out in this film that really become significant in later films like Civil War, Black Panther, Endgame and in shows like WandaVision.

James Spader's voicing of Ultron, the introduction of Wanda, the "humanizing" of so many characters - this is an excellent movie in so many ways, it stands so well on its own in my opinion, but it also adds a lot to the previous movies. and as many other people have commented, it's the launching point for so much more!

Tony called the Hulk Buster equipment Veronica because (HULK) Bruce Banner's girl friend from the comics and the first Hulk movie was named Betty. It's his inside joke Betty and Veronica were the two girls who fought in the "Archie's" comic over who would get Archie as their boy friend.

Ah She-Hulk, the one show that riled everyone up because of its style and choice of genre. I get it’s not everyone’s cup of tea but to act like it’s this abysmal vile good-for-nothing piece of garbage is ridiculous, because trust me, there’s been WAY worse television. Personally I think it’s a decent show. Great? No, but it’s not what everyone is saying it is. I think it’s fun for people to jump on the bandwagon. When you’ve got a franchise that spans as long with as many films and tv shows, you’ve got to take different routes and try new things, and Marvel is in the perfect position to do so, and has proved that the past few years with their shows and movies. Now you can debate the quality of the phase 4 films/shows as much as you want, but saying She-Hulk is making the MCU “drop in an instant” and that it’s a parody is a pretty face value argument.

At first I didn't want them to use Vision because I didn't think that they could make him look serious, and I thought it would take too long to introduce him but they managed to keep him from looking silly and he was well integrated with the plot. His speech with Ultron at the end is amazingly written. "They're doomed," "Yes," The sad thing is that we lost Quicksilver, it makes the team feel a little unbalanced to have him missing but at least he got featured.

I was also worried about a plausible Vision. He is so OP as a hero that I wasn't sure how they would use him in the story. No spoilers but I think they have done ok. It is always a good day when Addie watches a new MCU movie! You are so much fun. This movie really gave Hawkeye a chance to shine. Contrast Natasha's teasing line when Clint is getting healed "Pretending we need this guy really brings the team together" and then later we see Clint at his farmhouse with wife and kids that Natasha knew about all along. Then you see Clint and Laura talking about his role on the Avengers. It humanizes him as person and shows that he is a valuable member of the group. I like this film in many ways, I know some people think of it as their least favorite Avengers movie but I think it was very good and moved the story forward quite a bit.

A lot of people were complaining that they made Ultron tell jokes. I think that actually made him scarier. the cold, calculating, emotionless murderbot has been done over and over since Terminator. A robot that has emotions and can't control them, that tells jokes but kills without remorse; THAT is terrifying to me. Ultron here was less indomitable than in the comics, but far, far more unpredictable and terrifying.

This whole movie lives and dies by James Spaders voice acting. He bring just the perfect tone and mood to Ultron, making him more emotional and irratic the more he evolves and learns but also more sarcastic the more he understands of finance or popculture. "Im glad you asked, because i'd like to take this time to explain my evil plan" is just spot on. Certain elements become relevant many movies down the road. The hammer scene served two purposes; one is that it quickly established Vision as trustworthy very quickly, and two, well... When this movie came out an energetic discussion broke out whether Cap moved the hammer. One is that he could move the hammer, but only a teeny bit. Enough to make Thor nervous. The other claimed that he could pick up the hammer, but chose not to, to avoid showing Thor up. Thanos is in the background the next six movies. We don't see him again until Avengers: Infinity War, but he's out there. The next six movies bounce between light and serious, and sometimes a mix. Next up is Ant-Man. A lot of humor.

Addie imagine that ultron is so intimidating that there was no need to alter the voice of the actor who gave him voice; they used the voice directly from actor james spader and it was fantastic. It would have been excellent if Ultron as a threat was in another Avengers movie

To me one of the few good things about Iron Man 3 is it sets up Tony’s mental state (PTSD) and helps explain his thought processes in Ultron (suit of armor around the world).

Possibly the most intense Marvel movie to this point, and the breaking of Tony Stark. As the movie progresses we see Stark deal with the consequences of his arrogance and of his narcissistic belief that he is always right and that anything he does is right just because he is doing it. The feardream combined with the terror he has unleashed, one far worse than Stark Industries weapons in the hands of bad people (which was bad enough), leads to Tony being broken and leads to repercussions that affect not just Tony but the Avengers and the world going forward. THIS is what brilliant storytelling looks like, and to keep that level of brilliance going throughout the first three phases of the MCU (with an exception or two along the line) is in itself amazing.

And yes, the Maximovs would change sides just that quickly, because what they've been helping is what they have hated Stark for for years, to a level beyond what destroyed their lives. Ultron's goal is to destroy all lives. Even if they were actually evil instead of just badly hurting and wishing for revenge, they would have changed sides to avoid their own extinction.

Hawkeye and Natasha, as I've probably said before, are and always have been my favorite Avengers, because they're just people who have honed (or were forced to hone) their skills to the utmost. No magic, no suits of armor, godly powers, serums, biological manipulation, just people who achieved seemingly impossible things through their drive and determination. I loved that Hawkeye and his family got really good screentime in this, as did "Auntie" Nat. ❤ Jeremy Renner plays a perfect Hawkeye and Scarlet Johannsen, who I never really thought much of before the MCU, is a great actress who puts so much into making Natasha real. Love it! And, really, Hawkeye and Black Widow are the parents for the Avengers. Clint, who has a family and who understands responsibility maybe more than anyone else, is very much the level headed dad while Natasha, who has always known that she will always be alone because of who and what she is, has found a family that she cares for and will do anything to keep together. Also, the two of them have an ideal and absolute love for each other, all the more special because it is platonic. They'll go to the wall for each other with no hesitation, and then through it. They are so well done for these movies, even if there's some divergence from the canon. But, heck, that happens in the comics too. 😛

Here's a quick rundown of the new characters in this movie. Pietro Maximoff, aka Quicksilver: Super speed and heightened awareness of his surroundings when in motion, making everything appear to be in slow motion. While the film made him and his sister the results of a mad science experiment, in the comics, they're both mutants, meaning they were born with those powers. (This analysis probably won't mean much since he's dead, but one of the big rules of comics is that death is merely an inconvenience 90% of the time.) Wanda Maximoff, aka Scarlet Witch: Reality warping, allowing her to do basically whatever she wants/needs. Not always emotionally stable, though, which can lead to her powers going out of control. In the comics, she once rewrote the whole universe to basically give everyone their greatest desires. Vision: As an android, he has the basic robot quirks (hacking, analysis, etc.), but he also has control over his own molecular density, meaning he can be almost impervious to damage or phase through solid objects. Despite being an android, though, he's surprisingly human, able to feel emotions to the point of being able to cry.

from the beginning, I was quite confused as to why Tony was getting the heat for creating Ultron. Because he didn't. Admittedly, him and Bruce were going to the next day, but at that point, all Tony did was analyze the gem, and they all agreed to do that. The Mindstone formed Ultrom on it's own, triggered by nothing but the analysis. This would have happened whether Tony wanted to create Ultron or not.

If you want to see an alternate (and equally entertaining) in interpretation of Pietro and Wanda Maximov, you should watch "X-Men: Days of Future Past". Granted, Wanda only makes a brief cameo, but it is worth it.

If you enjoyed Capt America Winter Soldier the tech fumbling to be cool at 27:36 might look familiar. He was the guy that almost died refusing the order to launch the new and Hydra Improved Heli-carriers. 'Captain's Orders.' I always liked that they brought him back for this cameo. It makes sense story wise too. SHIELD is done and Fury would need to tap every ex SHIELD resource he can trust (see Agents of SHIELD for more) to get this old Heli-carrier out of mothballs and back into the air. If I needed someone with heart and the tech skills to run a keyboard that agent would be top of the list.

By the way, the actor who plays Vision is Paul Bettany and he actually is the guy that has voiced Jarvis for the past 14 years. When they asked him if he would like to "up" his part from a speaking role to an acting role he was over the moon and jumped at the chance to do it.
