@tinchorb1340 is this all post ww2? admittedly, my knowledge of the easter/ western German stuff is limited, but in what world would either use Soviet tanks as standard? I'd understand polish Tanks maybe but soviet? And using hand me down Soviet kit pre and during ww2 seems unlikely unless to replenish used and damaged kit

This is post WW2. German was split into two, East (Warsaw Pact) and West (NATO) Germany. They're using tanks from the CDLC Global Mobilization which takes place in the 1970s. During the Cold War Warsaw pact countries under the thumb of the Soviet Sphere utilized similar equipment for less logistical strain. East Germany and Poland both heavily used the aging T-55 (Post-WW2 Tank developed by the soviets) at this time (Despite being upgraded models that would add things like extra armor to the turret and Lzr Rangefinders) because they were cheap to make and have a ton from decades prior. Which yeah they're at a disadvantage but the Cold War wasn't just going to be brand new Leopard 2s and M1A1s which T-55s would struggle against, it'd be more of these thinner armor Leo 1s which the T-55s 100m would make short work of. The Soviets would give out some of their older stock to warsaw pact countries too (Poland and Czech gave East Germany their domestically produced licensed copies of select equipment as well IE T-72) . There's a lot more info but that kinda sums the gist of it.
