The coating on the stainless along with the dark dial and bezel, makes the steel appear darker than it is. Very nice

As a Swordfish owner this model is really tempting. The slimmer lines are so appealing, as is the hi beat movement.

Cheers for the review! I picked up one of these forged carbon Spearfishs a week ago. Your review helped me make up my mind and pull the trigger!

Thanks Guy, thrilled to hear you were able to track one down! These are really special and I look forward to seeing the future iterations Zelos come up with.

All these specs are impressive, and the watch really looks quality. I just wished I liked the design more.

I recently picked up the white dial and it’s absurdly beautiful. Has explorer II vibes. Really fantastic watch that punches so far above its price point and should shame a lot of brands in the 3K plus range with jank bracelets and average finishing.

This piece looks very good. I really like how they refined the dial compared to the blocky design of the swordfish. I can really notice the hands they are way better looking on this model. Also the applied indices are a nice touch. The movement is a bit of a headscratcher never heard of it before.

At first I was dissapointed that he abandoned sandwich layout, but after seeing forged carbon here I think thats a gorgeous piece.Great low light shots!I might go for it,have already gray meteo Mako,so Spearfish would be a nice addition

Very nice watch. I really like that micro-adjust clasp! I wonder if I could purchase that clasp by itself, & if it’s compatible with a 40mm Swordfish’s bracelet?

Around three dozen of Elshan's creations to date. Having so many it gets increasing hard to find something to entice me, but he does keep raising the bar. The Mirage2 is the pinnacle to date for me, but looking forward to seeing what the future brings. Thanks for the detailed size comparison in the review. One thing that sets Zelos apart is the outstanding customer service. I hear JOMW gripe all of the time about only a one-year warranty. Generally I understand his point, but IMO two or three years doesn't mean much without having great service to use those extra years.

Thanks for this review! (even if the forged carbon Spearfish is sold out now :-) The only detail I miss in the Spearfish is the sandwich dial, which was a key characteristics of the Swordfish (and Zelos)... When you put the Swordfish and the Spearfish 40 side by side, I noticed how larger the Spearfish looks, which may be due to the drop of the outer wite line on the border of the Swordfish! Except that, I love the more refined clasp that I appreciate on my Blacktip, and all the refinements that Elshan put into the Spearfish.

Nice review as always, thanks. I like the watch but prefer the Mako design. I hope they give that the same refinement treatment (movement, caseback, thin case), and also the only design issue I see, which is a mismatch to the lug end and curvature of the links. You are right that Zelos improves with time and feedback, they have come a long way.

I picked up the swordfish ti with the forged carbon but moved it on quite quickly as I really disliked the faux patina lume and the slightly cheap feeling titanium. Think I'll pick this one up as it corrects the 2 flaws (imo). The range doesn't wow me especially but I love the forged carbon and would like to experience that new ljp movement. Great in depth review as always 👍

Great review! Like u said more refined than the Swordfish. Would have liked u to talk about the indices that have replaced the sandwich. Keep up the good work.

Love all the features on the bracelet but that endlink fit really doesn't look great to me. How does it compare to the Halios Fairwind?

Damn, that's good. My favorite Zelos since the FC Blacktip. Does this one have any tiny air bubble holes in the forged carbon bezel? (I think most folks don't even notice those but they bug me.)

Zelos is one of those brands, kinda like Nomos, where the aesthetic just doesn't really appeal to me, but where I still really appreciate what they are doing.

TO ANYONE CONSIDERING BUYING THIS WATCH: I just received my (Burnt Orange) Spearfish yesterday, and the watch arrived broken. While I was sizing the bracelet, I noticed that it hadn't started running yet and the rotor wouldn't spin. To my astonishment, I could see a small screw wedged between the edge of the rotor and the caseback. Upon closer inspection, it appears this was one of the screws that connected the 3/4 bridge to the mainplate of the movement. Not sure how it fell out (the threads appear intact), but this is a very concerning QC issue from Zelos (and LJP's new movement). The bracelet screws are also very poorly machined and hard to work with -- they strip VERY easily. I reported the damaged movement to Zelos yesterday, but I haven't gotten any reply yet. At this point, I think I might send it back for a full refund unless they can offer me a longer warranty for a replacement. Very distressing :(
