I'm the crazy guy who bought this phone for 5 grand 😅...but it's the foldable I dreamed of... Beautiful screens, hardly any creases, ability to get Google play apps, incredible innovation, thin (considering it has 3 screens) and SUPER FLAGSHIP cameras, the camera is better than my dads Xiaomi 14 ultra. I carefully compared the photos and my whole family agrees. Trust me, don't be fooled by the MP count... I don't think it's worth more than 3k, but if it was, I'd say it's easily the best fold out. Only the price let's it down...

Beware that there are reports on KZbin about the screen breaking down soon after use and the back up service by Huawei on KZbin because if you have trouble this is an expensive device. My wife's Samsung Fold 4 inner screen broke at two years ownership . She knows the fragility of folding phone and did not misuse it. Too expensive to repair , so she now uses the front screen only. Waste of money.

Why would you have patient’s x-rays and charts on your personal phone? I was a security engineer at a hospital we don’t allow that, part of the security agreement was no medical records or pictures on personal phones. Not seeing where spending $3000 for that would be wise. Most hospitals have tablets that should be issued for that sort of stuff.

my random guess is the battery is helped by the device using Huawei's own OS. Ie an OS designed and adapted specifically for this device. Whereas each Android device has to deal with the generalisations of the Android OS (and thus would have a lot of energy wasting inefficiencies.)

No it's just basic physics, we see a screen 50% larger and think it must use 50% more battery, but the screen isn't what uses all the power, it everything combined, so a bigger screen makes far less difference that we might think, in the same way a double fold phone doesn't use much more than an old type single screen phone.

It's an amazing peice of tech. Right now if you want that size screen and you travel. Take a phone and a tablet or use a normal foldable. When they are at the 2k price then maybe a tri fold. However the final fold with the screen exposed is a no go for me. I never use cases and that edge would get worn. Reviews in 6 months will be interesting. Hats off for releasing it.

The app he used is the green app icon with a picture of luggage with an airplane in the middle. It has a Chinese title that translates to "easy to leave the country". That app is a virtual environment that has access to the Play store and can almost install/run anything. You can create shortcuts out of it to put on your desktop to run like any regular app. The app is preloaded when you buy the phone. I have been able to open another phone with the Play store on it and then click install to the virtual phone which shows up as "Android Android" in your devices list.

Yep, I agree wholeheartedly, here in the west, Apple, Samsung and Google have had a great monopoly on phone sales. They have procrastinated with their development and there isn't much difference between them now. Hopefully the release of more competition on the flagship market kickstarts the innovation of these companies again, except for Apple, they'll just steal the ideas 10 years later and say it was their innovation all along.... @@WATCHOCCUPATION101 the reason I'm afraid to move from Samsung to Honor (the Magic V3 looks amazing) is the fact that I use Samsung Notes as my primary work app. It's amazing for sketching, note taking, mood boarding, etc. The big thing for me is having this huge canvas to draw on. Being able to measure a whole apartment by myself with just my phone and a laser or going to a worksite without drawings and just using my phone to take notes on plans. Other than that I use standard stuff like Gmail, WhatsApp, the calendar. But it's awesome to have Gmail open, with the notes app on screen, a "floating" calculator and you can basically do 3 or 4 things at the same time without constantly changing apps! The productivity is amazing on these devices.

I'm looking for a Surface Duo 3, with foldable screen, but still retaining the passport aspect ratio and critically defaults to two screens for multitasking. I think the Pixel Fold (1st gen) could be that device, but the focus wasn't on the software side. Does this device use a stylus? That would be the other missing component which Google left out.

No one should buy a premium Chinese market phone like the Mate XT shipped to their homes, because of the sheer markup. Instead just travelling to China, or even just transiting the country is now cheap enough that it's easier and probably cheaper to just plan a holiday (e.g. Europe to Japan via China), get the 24-hour visa-free transit entry, and pop down to the local Huawei flagship store to buy one. From where I am here in New Zealand travelling to East/SE Asia as well as Europe the Chinese airlines are by far the cheapest, at sometimes less than half the price. And of course China doesn't charge VAT.....

OK why no one does the real test on these phones, especially foldables phones. How does it hold up in the bathroom while your taking a dump. Is it durable to with stand the fumes and if it falls off your leg does it still work.

If you want a real test, here's mine: I have a Xiaomi Mix Fold 3, approaching 11 months old, purchased from the Xiaomi flagship store when I visited Shenzhen in November 2023. It holds up well in the bathroom although I fold it and place it on a phone holder I have on the bathroom wall when I'm done doing my business. I don't cook with one hand on the phone, I place it on a tabletop phone holder when I'm cooking, so no problems there if you're talking about kitchen fumes. If not then I have no idea what 'fumes' you're talking about. The Mix Fold 3 comes with a factory case and I've dropped it once while folded, again no problems. I don't walk around with it unfolded (good thing the folded screen is actually usable, unlike the Galaxy Folds' tiny screen size), I only use it unfolded when I'm sitting down, or standing if I'm showing someone else a photo I've taken, or a document/website. It sat in my pockets every working day, there's plenty of dust in my pockets but the phone works great, and the dust can be easily removed with my fingers, or a dust cloth. I brought it primarily to read manga, which it does very well. There's also a big "wow" factor when you show others your photos on the unfolded display.

Elephant in the room here is hinge longevity, I've owned three samsung fordables and on every one, the hinge goes by the 18-24 month mark. Love the concept and it is the future but for me for now, I've gone back to a slab phone, s4 ultra - miss the screen real estate, just not the reliability.

What do you mean when you say that if you don't take usage of the screen in this fully unfolded state all of the time, its not worth it? When using it closed 10 % of the time, partically oppened 20 % of the time in the 70% of the time fully opened seems more realistic for a day to day use no? Would it not be worth it then? If we pretend for a moment that it is possible to buy it for 2800 USD, it makes sense to not only people tlwho comute a lot but also to professionals that give presentations or meet clients face to face to show whatever they are selling on a big screen. Also for anyone that does not want to purchase a laptop just to use office and email .

@@PoloHungary It's too early to break regardless if you have two folds of the screen. Folds in general need attention. My Samsung fold 4 mind you I haven't even changed the inner protective film that closes in a little over 2 years and I've heard of people who have changed up to 3 times. Breaking the internal screen not in years but in days, can only happen from hardware failure OR (more likely) from misuse to get the name out that even though the triples are not as good as Huawei makes them out to be. But they forget that Huawei has foldables on both sides: Huawei's Mate X ( and xs and xs2 ) and Mate X2-X3-X5. That means he knows what he's doing because he's identified the weaknesses from both builds. Of course I agree with the guarantee, because it is a very expensive device and you have to insure it.

Not having a mobile connection I don't think would be three 4% extra I think it could be more depending on how much struggles to find the connection But the other thing about phones nowadays and their batteries Is That they over optimize the battery and you have to unoptimize or unrestrict certain apps that you want to have a constant connection like email apps or instant messaging apps like WhatsApp that you're looking for live notifications from otherwise it'll kind of put those to sleep and help the battery but really it's not real just on a side note just letting you know most people Overlook that But it would be good to see with full on the same or more usage even Fold it or unfolded and then having it not on Wi-Fi But also making sure certain apps that you need open are not optimized Just some food for thought Thank you sir keep up the amazing work
